Guest guest
My doc put me on 's "Always Active" Aloe Vera because it is different than all the others and distilled. This is the same doc who put me on the SCD diet. (Boy, am I confused!) I copied and pasted below info about this product. Because of the way it's made, is this one legal? If not, then I can't understand why my doc put me on it? I wonder if I will ever figure this stuff out. Requires no refrigeration or special handling. Contains no preservatives or additives. Bitter Free! Anthraquinone Free! The digestive tract membranes replicate about every 28 days, for optimum digestive function drink 2 ounces twice daily which is one gallon per month. Only gallons are sold individually. HISTORY OF ALOE Fifteen Centuries before the Birth of Christ, Egyptian writings acclaimed the miracle plant we know as Aloe Vera, even then referred to as an ancient cure. Cleopatra, the Great and Aristotle were fans of this strange succulent prized for its soothing, healing and analgesic ability. Indians in Central and South America used it to treat burns, kidney and bladder infections, dysentery, stomach and intestinal disorders. We took a good look at this fascinating botanical wonder. Of the 200 plus varieties, we quickly found that only five or six fit the enzymatic structure for the cosmetic and so-called "medicinal properties" mentioned. Then while we were studying these succulents in their natural desert setting, the little "Beep-beep" bird from the Saturday cartoons scooted across a Mexican road and changed our lives. What got our attention was not the fact that the roadrunner drank from the juice of the Aloe Vera - but that it passed up many plants to get to a particular one, Aloe Barbadensis . We studied acre after acre and found the roadrunner "peck marks" only on one particular species. The other aloe were untouched. Our Houston lab found that, indeed it had much different gel than other aloes. Q. What are the benefits from drinking s Aloe Vera liquid? A. Aloe has been used for centuries to help in maintaining a healthy digestive tract. Evidence through different studies seem to indicate that beneficial properties in the Aloe help in allowing the body to rebuild mucous membranes. This could benefit certain conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulitis, heartburn, acid reflux chrones disease & chronic constipation. Q. How often should I drink s Aloe Vera liquid? A. For optimum results, we recommend drinking 2 ounces in the morning before breakfast and 2 ounces in the evening before bedtime. Q. Why do you remove the polysaccharides? A. The Aloe Vera Barbadensis plant has over 200 beneficial components. Although it is believed mucopolysaccharides have beneficial elements, this molecular chain is very large making it difficult for the body to utilize. The complete mucopolysaccharide chain is also the cause of rapid spoilage and breakdown of the product, which is why most other brands contain unhealthy preservatives. We breakdown the mucopolysaccharide chain extracting the sugars in order to eliminate adding any preservatives and increase shelf life. We also theorize, through our testing, that the mucopolysaccharides in their full form are not the only "silver bullet" in helping the body heal. Our distillate contains the naturally occurring elements found in mucopolysaccharides in a low molecular weight more easily absorbed by the body. Q. What is a distillate? A. A distillate is a liquid that consists of pure components of a plant in its most basic form. It is unique in that a distillate is comprised of a low molecular weight thereby enabling the body to assimilate its components in the purest form at the cellular level. This occurs both internally, and through the skin’ dermal layers, at a much higher rate than would occur if the plant’s components were introduced in any other manner. Q. How long should I be drinking s Aloe Vera before seeing any results? A. Most people begin to see results anywhere from two weeks to one month. Remember, our bodies are continually shedding cells. It is very important to continue use even after you attain the results you are looking for. Q. Why doesn’t s Aloe taste bad? A. Most Aloe Vera products are slimy and have a very bitter taste. We remove the chemical antagonists such as the aloins and Anthraquinone that are mildly toxic. These antagonists can cause stomach cramping, diarrhea and in some cases vomiting. As a result, our product has no adverse flavor. Unlike other brands, our product is safe for pregnant women, nursing mothers and people of all ages. Q. Is s Aloe Organically grown? A. Yes! Although we do not seek the organic certification, s aloe is continually tested for over 50 different chemicals that may contaminate the plants. To date tests has come back negative for any contamination. Q. Doesn’t distillation just turn it to water? A. s is fractionally distilled, meaning it is broken down into various parts, with the undesirable elements removed. It is then re-assembled. Products such as Jack s & Petroleum are distilled products and would never be confused with water. Q. Is your product diluted? A. No. It takes 23 lbs of plant to make one gallon of s liquid aloe. There is no dilution, preservatives or additives. Q. Can I take too much of s aloe? A. Drinking more than the recommended amount will not hurt you. In fact, you may need to increase the amount you take depending on the severity of your condition. Once your condition has improved, you will want to continue with 2 ounces twice daily as a maintenance program. SCIENTIFIC METHOD OF EVALUATING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF NATURAL MEDICINES Arthur Dale sson, M.D.; Shinian Cao, M.D.; Fred Crawford, Ph.D.; Dale Haufrect, M.D. and Tommy E. Hall, Jr.; USA INTRODUCTION It has been traditionally assumed that long chain mucopolysaccharides and other natural ingredients found in aloe vera are active only in their unadorned and non-modified state. There is little scientific evidence, however, to support this conclusion. In fact, certain isolated components of aloe vera have pronounced specific pharmaco-therapeutic effects. The purpose of this series of experiments is to evaluate this unique method of scientifically evaluating biological and herbal products and to specifically compare fractionally distilled aloe preparation from a traditional aloe preparation. CONCLUSION Utilizing the scientific method of white blood cell (T lymphocyte) culture, stimulation and metabolic turnover rates of more than 25 substances it was determined that: 1. This pivotal study had demonstrated that this type of T Lymphocyte cell culture metabolic analysis is useful for evaluating the safety and efficacy of a variety of treatments in which there is only antidotal or clinical studies to support the therapeutic effect. 2. This technique of single blinded study has been employed to define the efficacy as well as compare fractionally distilled aloe vera (Warren Aloe) and a traditional aloe vera product. Application of this type of blinded study to two different forms of aloe vera showed that the following conclusion may be expressed with certainty. * Fractionally distilled aloe (Warren Aloe) of Aloe vera breaks apart the long chains of mucopolysaccharides. These long chains prevent maximum effect. * These shorter chains are then more effective in statistically increasing the activity of cell cultures in the following manner. * Fractionally distilled Aloe produces virtually the same cellular metabolic responses as found with natural Aloe juice. * Mitochondrial stimulation with increased fructose turnover appears greater in those patients while taking fractionally distilled aloe, while at the same time the insulin/glucose interaction is about the same with both aloe preparations. * There appears a decreased calcium, magnesium and zinc metabolic turnover in those patients on natural aloe juice. * Alpha lipoic acid turnover is decreased in patients taking natural aloe juice. This data suggest that fractionally distilled Aloe vera is bio-pharmaceutically active and provides specific changes in T cell cultures when compared to baseline and with natural Aloe vera juice. Why is aloe vera juice bad for scd? My dad who has crohn's swears by it and so does my sister-in-law who has ibs swears that's what helps her too. Just curious what you think? http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/aloe_vera.htm Can someone remember why Aloe Vera juice is NOT recommended for us? Deborah writes: It contains a very powerful carthartic, anthroquinone, which naturally would be extremely irritating to the gut, to say the least. Even in products with the anthroquinone removed, one doesn't know if it's completely gone, whether traces remain, what was used to remove it, etc. ************************ Lydia sends this in: Re Aloes:"... a potent immunostimulant. ...effects noted include the enhancement of macrophage release of TUMOUR NECROSIS FACTOR.. these effects can be quite substantial" from Textbook of Natural Medicine, Murray and Pizzorno, p582. In response, Elaine writes: One of the LAST things you want with IBD! From the LI listserve And from the Legal/Illegal List: Aloe Vera Illegal It contains mucilaginous polysaccharides as well as increasing the release of tumor necrosis factor which is associated with IBD inflammation and increased immune stimulation. Guest guest
Hmm, that looks interesting since the polysaccharides and all of the harshchemicals have been removed. Was/is it helping you? Maybe you could contact them to find out whether all the polysaccharides have been removed. Or only the mucopolysaccharides? (Though those may be the onlyones they have.) And if the chains have been broken down, what they have been broken down to? Disaccharides? Monosaccharides?etc. I tried aloe right before SCD, in capsule form, and it helped me a lot, until I got into a sugarflare. And then it wasn't enough to pull me out. And I didn't really understand whatwas going on at that point, the whole sugar cycle Or maybe I wasn't patient enough. So eventually I moved over to SCD. But the truth is, my progress on that has also beencyclical. Apparently, aloe also contains antibacterial, antifungal properties, which is anotherreason it helps. Guest guest
Honestly, I can't tell if it's helping because I'm still having issues we don't about. I'm wondering if I should stop in case it's causing problems? I don't know if I'm in a flare or what until we do that colonoscopy.
