Guest guest
Heya , I am not so well versed on the official test that measures stomach acid since few docs have it. There are different ways to do a challenge DIY style.. One of them is to take HCL and if it's in drops it's easier just use a miniscule amount with food and see how it works. GRADUALLY increase if you feel better. You may feel worse- that either means excess stomach acid is present or that too much is being produced. The GAPS store has a nice explaination and sells a legal capsule; http://www.shop.gapsdiet.com/product.sc?productId=15 & categoryId=5 I too, had to start on a small amount of lemon water and gradually up the amount. I used to have a disaster of upper GI issues. I have not found a legal pancreatin type enzyme but there sure are supplements out there that have the pancreatin/lipase/amylase quite high. What are the difficult foods for you to digest? Do you find this has anything to do with time of day? Are you peeling and desseding everything? Jodi > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > I'm needing to add more carbs in - if i decide to introduce digestive enzymes should i try Digest Gold (with ViraStop maybe?) or peptizyde and HN-Zyme from Houston Enzymes? I'm currently using antifungals (rotating every 2 weeks - Capryl, Candidase, olive leaf extract). Can you use antifungals and digestive enzymes - maybe just take them an hour or more away from each other? Reading on enzymestuff.com i'm just not sure if i should try Digest gold with the high protease and fruit derived enzymes (bromelain, papain) since i'm fighting yeast. Fruit and higher vegetable carbs are a problem and when i eat too much fat (olive oil) i have a pain in my upper right side - gall bladder i think. The Candidase i did ok on starting with 1/2 capsule for 4-5 days and then 1 capsule for a week. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! > > > > > > > > > SCD - 17 months > > > SCD and anti-candida - almost 4 months > > > Gluten Sensitive dx - 01/08 > > > Gluten free - 01/08 > > > > > >
Guest guest
Thanks Mara! That's good news since i have some. Thanks so much! > > > Hi , > > Thanks so much for the information! I have some ACV so i'll try a little of that in the morning. Did you just mix a small amount with a little water or drizzle it on his food? Is Bragg's ACV with the mother SCD legal? That's what i have but may go ahead and get the regular to try. Seems like for some reason i've read the kind with the mother wasn't but could be wrong. > > Not wrong because it contains yeast - but you can just filter it through a coffee filter. And then it's fine. > > Mara >
Guest guest
Hey , Do you know the status of the stomach lining now? If you have active irritation DO NOT take any HCL. That would be a recipe for disaster. Personally, for me.. I had to go low tech style with the diet and just do it for quite a while with absolutely no supplements. I had tried at various times and I learned my lesson. I am kind of thankful actually since IMO people who are supplement free get the quickest results. If taking supplements I like the whole food derived ones.. Kim M is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the upper GI.. I would totally take some pointers from her (I sure did, LOL!!) Are there any supplements that agree with you? Which ones are you on? If you do decide to go the enzyme route make sure you eat a couple of bites of food and then take your enzyme. I know it usually says before food but some of us really need to get those juices flowing before throwing in a harsh enzyme.
