Are the docs learning anything? > most of the docs are too arrogant thinking they are gods to learn anything. with this I primarily mean the ones who have been around 8-10 or more years. they consider themselves the masters, the pioneers and are simply concerned about DVT's and death and not all the walking deficient patients they are not guiding. I did find a number of new surgeons who were Very willing to listen and learn. this was encouraging. I'm not sure whats scarier....... the old docs still performing surgery and saying tums and flintstones and they see NO deficiencies in their practice or the surgeons who have done one or two wls because people keep asking for it, they have had no training but just know they can do it since they do other lap procedures. one point I heard a few times was that docs needed to be selective in their patients and that they needed to realize that these patients are their patients for life time and follow up is crucial. I hope they all heard that. they need programs - not cut and leave you on your own. lots of nurses out there running programs who refer to patients as " those people " , they don't know how to exercise and diet. if you want to see smoke blow out my horns let me hear a cardiac or ob nurse who is now doing bariatrics make a comment like that!! sue

It's having your PCP call you one of those people and advising you to walk 5 miles a day at 479 lbs. I just love ignorant medical professionals (oops, I mean gods). Now don't get me started.
