I know Laurette, I'm in the same boat. I truly never thought I could

" forget to eat " . I would hear people say that and laugh and now it has

literally happened. I just don't really think about food and I don't

crave at all (think this also has to do with removing Diet Coke, my

husband is having the same experience without the surgery but with

removing Diet Coke). It's a great feeling. And to think I'm in my 22

non-stretch jeans :). Have this one suede skirt that I can't wait to

wear out, should be in it any day now :)!

I have never had a protein shake or powder . I do eat the occasional

protein bar, and early on I could make one last all day. Mine (worldwide

nutritional pure protein power bars) have about thirty two grams of protein

each, so with little effort I felt pretty good about getting in my protein.

Of course some days are better than others.....

Plus protein builds muscle mass and helps dramatically with the healing process.

I fell about 4 weeks out from surgery and the wound on my knee healed w/in a

week ... rather than the 4 weeks it used to take when my diabetes was active.

Ask your doctor first, I would say yes, because you are not getting enough

protien in your system. Protien eats fat, so I would think you would lose much

more weight with the protien drinks.
