Guest guest
Did your physician tell you to start eating food this early? Most ptients can't tolerate ant foods so soon post-op (sure sounds like you can't either!). Try liquids only and see if the vomiting stops. > i am so upset i cannot keep much down... i have thrown > up lima beans and crackers and crystal light.. i am so > upset.. oh mash potatoas also.. i am getting sick of > it.. it hurts my tummy when i do that,,, i am 11 days > out of surgery.. any suggestion starlet
Guest guest
Star, Are you eating too fast? Too big of a bite? I am currently one month post op today and I am already on a semi-regular diet. I have only thrown up three times. Two of those times I believe I ate too fast. Guest guest
I have to agree here 100%. My surgeon was one of the founders of some of the laproscopic techniques and the nutrition department at Rush Hospital in Chicago worked with them in developing diets based on research. I've heard MANY people talk about what they are eating in very short time spans post op and that is dangerous at best and stupid in the very least. Regardless of WHAT your personal doctor says there is clinical proof as to what is safe and what is not. If your doctor tells you something is safe that the AMA and the LAP commissions and world reknown nutritionalists/dieticians are saying should be followed. I think it is WORSE that others here tell them to do whatever it is their doctors are telling them to do when it comes to post op diets. There is a VERY strict protocol in post op diet for at LEAST the first 9 days and in the VERY least the first 30 days when it comes to a progression of clear liquid to pureed to soft foods etc. Each case may be different but not when it comes to the simple facts of how the intestines work after such a surgery. NOT just my opinion in this case but the clear facts and opinions of at least 85% of the surgical community. Telling somebody to do whatever it is your doctor tells you to do is simply sick in a field where EVERYBODY wants the money from performing such surgeries and only care about the patient until the bills are paid. Institutions that care about their surgical patients 9 YEARS from now as opposed to 9 weeks need to be followed before anybody who can successfully maneuver a laporoscope.
