Guest guest
Congrats! Yes, having a huge, swollen face is normal. Don't be surprised if it gets even bigger tomorrow. Swelling usually peaks on day 3 or 4 post-op, then it goes way, way down. But then, for some of us, the bruising begins! My noticable swelling was gone in about 5 days and the bruising was gone in 2 weeks. Your sore throat is from the breathing tube. Mine was gone in about three days. 7 to 10 days sounds pretty optomistic to me to go back to work. But, if you work for yourself, you can set your own hours and work at your own pace. I had just lower jaw surgery too and I could have gone back part-time at two weeks, full-time at three. Lucky for me I had plenty of sick leave saved up so I requested 4 weeks off. I was 100% when I returned to work. Best of luck to you. Maddie > > Hiya, > > Thanks to all who've posted here... Guest guest
Hiya Maddie, Thanks for the feedback... I work mostly for myself but also just started part-time freelance. I mostly just sit at the computer and design so I should be OK. They pay me by the hour and get nervous when I'm too chatty with the other employees so they will be very happy to see me sitting quietly doing my work. With my big, fat face. :-) I honestly don't think my face could get any bigger- I feel like my cheeks and neck are stretched to full capacity. I just hope I am happy with the results and I can get the braces off soon and be done with this. I don't think I will be as weirded out by the bruising as the swelling... am I just being optimistic? Also, when will I be able to start talking? Right now it even hurts to mumble. Thanks again... how long ago was your surgery? T. > > Congrats! Yes, having a huge, swollen face is normal.
