Guest guest
Amber,I was nearly 32 when I gave birth to my first son (fell pregnant 2 months into the marriage), nearly 36 when I gave birth to my second (after trying once on Father's Day), and my third son was born shortly after my 37th birthday (that's what I get for joking about being able to handle a 3rd better than my husband could!). I had never been pregnant before the first one and have only ever been pregnant the 3 times. I had been on the pill for at least 10 years, and had some 'female' trouble that convinced me it would be difficult to conceive. My husband also had reason to believe he wouldn't be capable of fathering children. When your body is ready, it will happen, whether you are ready mentally or not! ; )AmeliaHusband UC 9 years, SCD 19 monthsLDN 3mgTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Thu, February 4, 2010 8:16:27 PMSubject: Re: bee propolis, salt wtih iodide, birth control pills Thank you, everyone, for your input. The more I think about it, the more I think I would like to wait to see if my body can have a period again on its own. But I am starting to worry that my biological clock may be winding down. I'm 31 and I know that by the time a women reaches 35 the risks increase for the baby, so I kind of feel pressured a little. Hopefully things straighten out within the next 6 months, if not, I don't know. But you're all right, it's probably best to let my body heal on its own first. Plus I'm on meds, and perhaps they are having an effect on my cycle. Sigh...to be healthy again. Hopefully I'll get there. Thank you again for your support and input. Take care, Amber
Guest guest
do you have a BCP that is SCD legal? I may be in the minority, but I've always felt better taking birth control pills. Whenever I stop taking them, my ovarian cysts start acting up. They've also helped me control my anemia. Holly Crohn's SCD 12/01/08 > > 3. Hope this isn't TMI, but I've only had my period once since I was diagnosed six months ago. My husband and I are hoping to try and have kids sometime this year. I went to the gynecologist, and went on a 10 day course of pills that were supposed to get me to have my period. No luck yet, though I have a couple more days where it could happen. If not, I'm supposed to take a month's worth of birth control to hopefully get things started again. She gave me a free pack, they're chewable, so I'm sure there are illegals in it. I have never taken birth control before, so are there any birth control pills that don't have illegals? I don't even know if I have to get a prescription for those though, and I'm wondering if the chewable ones will be that detrimental. Thoughts? > > I am scared to take birth control since I never have before, and I'm not sure how it will affect my crohn's. Do any other females have problems with their cycles, and were you ever able to get regular again? > > Thanks, > > Amber >
Guest guest
I have a friend going to a nutritionist that said remove ALL scents because they affect the adrenal glands and people don't realize how stressed our adrenals are because of all the scents and chemicals. Just a thought.... I attended a stress seminar ... I was told that when you even think about a stressful moment that happened in the past or verbalize it, your body produces enough stress chemicals to keep you 'attack ready' ... You also stress your adrenal glands if done constantly and that affects your other hormones and body systems robbing it of nutrients, vitamins and minerals keeping it from working properly. .AmeliaHusband UC 9 years, SCD 20 monthsLDN 3 mg
Guest guest
Amber,Doctors don't usually test for adrenal fatigue, that is correct. Someone posted a link earlier to help find doctors who practice 'functional' or 'integrative/integrated' medicine (not to be confused with Internal Medicine). They will look at the whole body and how it functions together, which is how it should be. The book 'Stop the Thyroid Madness' has lots of good info regarding adrenal fatigue as well as mentioning other books on the subject. It also gives info on where to get testing done and how to interpret it.Yes, exercising can make it worse in a way. What usually happens is that if you have a busy day or exercise it really wipes out your energy and it can take a day or more to recover and feel normal again. Absolutely, the last thing you need is lack of sleep from a newborn on top of a flare! You want to be able to enjoy the baby.AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Sun, February 28, 2010 7:29:44 PMSubject: Re: bee propolis, salt wtih iodide, birth control pills Hi Amelia, I was thinking there might be something else going on. I had my thyroid tested, but I don't know if it was the proper testing. And I'm a little confused about the adrenal testing, because from what I've read about it, most doctors don't test for adrenal fatigue- is that right? So if I had it tested somewhere online, then if the tests come back as my having adrenal fatigue, what would I do? Also, I'm curious, if a person does have adrenal fatigue, does exercising make it worse? You're right though, I really don't want to get pregnant now while I'm still flaring and sick. I can barely take care of myself right now, so adding a baby into the mix right now doesn't seem feasible. I will have to learn to be patient, which I'm not very good at!
