Guest guest
Hey carmen, i dont know if its the same meds but i have taken a drug called amitriptylin before its an antidepressent. I have had migranes for years and the only cure/or relief i have found that works for me is a herb called feverfew, i take 3 capsules when i feel a migrane coming on and it seems to relieve it, i know you can get feverfew leaves or empty the capsules into warm water and make an infussion to drink, love to paisley and storm Carmen Snyder wrote: Hi guys! Sorry I am away so much these days. Life has me quite busy right now. I am writing to ask if any of your kids have migraines. Our ped. thinks Storm is having magraines and has prescribed Elavil (aka Amitriptylin), as well as a trip to a neurologist! This is a new one for us! Anyhow, if any of you has any experience with this med, please email me and let me know. If you all have any other ideas to help Storm handle these headaches and the throwing up that would be great too! He is currently on, Reglan, Prevacid, flovent, albuterol (prn), nutropin (gh) and now Amitriptylin. Thanks all! Guest guest
R Storm is 9years6months old. His pediatrician gave him the meds because he is having headaches every day and the tylenol is not controlling them and it is affecting school. I don't know if this helps, but we are going to be seeing a neurologist soon. Carmen, mom to Storm, 9.5, RSS, GERD, Asthma, etc. etc. etc....... Guest guest
<<Surprisingly, Benadryl has a migraine blocker as well.>> WOW.. I did not know that.. But I do that for Jed, since the neuro said Tylenol or Motrin, which don't touch the migraine, I give him Benadryl with either one of the above and that helps him.... Also did you know that Tylenol PM and meds like that are acedamedaphin and Benadryl?? R Mom to: Jed (1/22/93) Tic disorder, Asthma, Heart Murmur..... Guest guest
Jane, I am so sorry to hear you began to have migranes. There are phases in my life when I have them very frequently and then others when not. I attribute them to many factors. These can be: immense amount of stress and fatigue(which, alas, you are suffering now), weather, and jaw problems. Ok I know this is a short list but all related to me and you as well. I realised that one of the reasons for my frequent headaches was the constant tension (so constant your brain blocks info from your consciousness otherwise we would go mad, but the pain IS there without us realising it on the level of nerves. I read this somewhere, sorry I am not more coherent here, hope you got the gist.) You should mention this when you go to have your wires off. The only thing you can do when you feel there is one coming is go to a dark room and just try to relax. Avoid bright sunshine, they make migraines worse. The vision loss and dizziness are migraine symptoms. I see white patches occasionally in my focus. I took Excedrin last year in the States - you can get them anywhere. They worked for me. I can only speak from my experience. I am no expert here. So please consult a doctor about this. I hope the next few days will pass fast for you. Guest guest
I'm so sorry, Jane, about the migraines. They can indeed be miserable. I don't have them, but my husband used to, with some frequency. If this proves to be a lasting problems, there are good meds to stop them, and good meds to prevent them. Our neurologist gave my husband some fizzy stuff; he pops one tablet in his mouth when one hits, and then it dissolves with a fizz, and takes the migraine with it. Occasionally it has taken a second dose, which knocks him pretty loopy -- but that is rare. And mercifully, so are the headaches now. I'm guessing you're right, though -- and that they may be some other type of headache, caused by plain old hunger and thirst. I hope that will be the case, and that this part of your troubles will be solved within the week! Cammie > > I have started having Migraines every day now. I am guessing it is due > to nutrition.
