If she won't cooperate with what works for your body, can you fire her or request a different aide who will do what you want? As you say, she's spending YOUR money on groceries, they should be groceries that are good for YOU, not what she wants you to eat. Maybe she has a hidden agenda -- if she can keep you obese she can keep you helpless, and then she can keep her job. ~~ Lyn
Guest guest
I think I'm not quite clear on what a home health aide does becuase I thought that they were for elderly people or people who weren't able to take care of themselves medically (like when you have an open incision, the HHA comes in to help clean it and change the bandages). Who pays for the groceries that she buys? You or her? If it's your money, then only pay for the items that YOU need, not the ones that she chooses against your wishes. One thing that I've learned since my WLS is that no one can force me to eat something that I don't want to eat - just as this woman can't force you to buy and eat anything that you don't want to buy and eat. If you don't want her to buy these things, tell her exactly what you expect of her and if she refuses to abide by your wishes, fire her. File a complaint with whatever agency she works for. Do SOMETHING. But don't allow her to help you sabotage yourself. We're all good enough at sabotaging ourselves without outside help, right She can't do anything for you or to you that you don't allow her to do. I think that Lyn has a point with what she said. If you don't need her to do your shopping for you, then she's out of a job. Terry Re: Swimsuits > > Yep, my grandmother was the same way. " Just one piece of cake won't hurt > > ya. Guest guest
I have the movie on VHS, and I have the cookbook. LOVED the movie....so real! The cookbook is pretty good too. Love the risotto recipe in it. Also the one with the beans and pasta. Pasta Fagolio??? Something like that anyhoo. I haven't cooked anything out of that cookbook since WLS. Wonder why? LOL~ Regards~ Jacque > Did you ever see " Fatso " with Dom Dee? Same situation -- the ones who > ate the most made the mommas so happy. Guest guest
Home health aides can be used for various reasons including wound care as well as elderly or disabled individuals who can not completely care for themselves. This home health aide is my original aide that I had starting a little over a year ago. She has gone from 24 hours a week down to 8 hours a week. We are really down to minimal stuff that I don't have the energy to complete such as laundry and grocery shopping. My biggest problem is that this particular aid is very bullheaded. She does a wonderful job but I have had to really pick my battles with her otherwise we would be fighting all of the time. She had gone on maternity leave and wasn't sure that she wanted to come back because she plans on going to work for the school district. However, her replacement decided one day not to show up. If this aide had not come back, I would still be without one. Now, the good news is that I only go shopping once a month. Secondly, she has really mellowed some since her baby was born (I wonder if this was part of the problem) and our arguments are now down to my shopping list and not everything else. I have often wondered if she had an agenda. She understands the basic problems of the comorbidities that I have but doesn't quite understand the addictive process. She also has started AA meetings because of her drug addiction slip and alcohol issues. Having been through OA, AA, and various other anonymous' plus a degree in social work I think I understand the process. I have been without sugar in my house as well as mashed potatoes. My cracker intake is about 1/3 of what it was 2 months ago and I am now loosing. My other saving grace is she loves to get me out walking and swimming which means I will be doing more exercising. I just have to stick to my food guns. Lori Owen - Denton, Texas SRVG 7/16/01 Dr. Ritter/Dr. Bryce 479/335/??? Boy, was I healthy!! lol Margie in NM RNY 9-7-01 252/133ish Jewish mommas are the same, plus I have learned that Spanish Mommas are too.
