Guest guest
Pre-op my BMI was only 37. Diabetes: About 1 month post-op I was off 2000 mg/day of glucaphage. About 2 1/2 months post-op I had weaned off all insulin before breakfast and dinner. At 3 months post op I had a visit with a endocrinologist who told me to drop my remaining diabetes med, glucotrol, from 20 mg/day to 5 mg/day and when I recorded three consecutive blood sugar readings below 80 to discontinue it all. Yippee!!!!!!!!!! Blood Pressure: has dropped drastically and have halved my Cozaar. Acid Reflux: Have discontinued nexium in am and 300 mg raniditine at bedtime, but it has been replaced by Pepcid Complete for the calcium, 2 am, 2 pm. Sleep Apnea: no longer wake up gasping for a breath. High Cholestrol: Have discontinued Lipitor. I used to be hot ALL the time; scalp was always damp from sweat. Only one episode since surgery, but that was probably due to an extreme blood sugar flux. Im even chilly sometimes. This surgery may only be a TOOL for weight loss, but it is a cure for so many other problems. ~~Pat~~ Orlando, FL 252/203/160 BMI 37/ 52 Years Young LAP-RNY 12/10/03 Wayne English, MD Ft Lauderdale, FL Message: 16 Date: Wed, 31 Mar 2004 13:12:02 -0000 Subject: BMI 39 Have any of you post-ops had successful weight loss and a co-mobidity reduction when you have a under 40 bmi and had to only lose 80 pds?
