Guest guest
Milk, like anything else, is alright in moderation. I have consumed milk regularly, and if limited to my two portions per day, per Weight Watchers, I have lost weight, and I've drunk it everyday since my surgery and have lost 160 lbs. Now, that's SKIM milk only! I drink it now, and I am gaining weight, but only because I have the horrible habit of opening the refrigerator door and standing there while I chug-a-lug from the jug!! I notice that I am consuming WAAAAYY more than I need from that bad habit. Need to break it!!! Only water when thirsty!!! Pour the milk in a GLASS when needed. Now, this isn't NEARLY my only bad habit that is causing me to gain, so I won't blame it all on the milk. I know there are varying opinions about milk on this list, so this is just mine. I don't believe that we should be freaking out about carbs and what not. Just try to eat sensibly and balanced. That is the only way we will ever learn to have healthy habits with food. Best wishes, Deanna milk I have another question........ Who drinks milk? And do you think it causes weight gain or slows weight loss? I have only heard this for the first time this past week. I am an avid milk drinker. Could that really be my problem? Darn if it is! I am a farm girl who LOVES her milk! It absolutely slows weight loss and can cause weight gain. Read the carton for carb and sugar content (even skim). 40 years ago my dad's very good chiropractor reminded him " Milk has a purpose in nature -- it's to fatten up baby cows. It does that to us pretty well too. " Dad grew up on a dairy farm and was a milk drinker too, but he quit, and lost 30 pounds in no time, with no other changes to his diet. ~~ Lyn G

But there've been a couple recent studies showing that people who drink milk actually lose faster and more than those who don't. It's probably like so many things: build a study to prove what u already believe is true. I think, like so many things, it just depends on the person: how their body reacts to certain things. What makes you gain weight may make another lose some. No easy answers. Carol A Carol A
