My son started in his STARband when he was 6.5 months old and we went in for

an adjustment/shave every three weeks. If red spots showed up sooner than

that we would call and go in earlier. With the DOCband, how often you go in

depends upon the age of the child. I have heard that before 6 months old

they go in weekly, after 6 months old every other week and with an older

baby it might be every three weeks. Of course, if your baby is having a

growth spurt they may need to go in more frequently.

How often do your dr shave your helmet?

My son is 8 months old and has had his starband for 1.5 months. We were

going every other week for a shave, but this past time she told me to come

in 3 weeks. Doesn't that seem really long w/o a shave? I'm pretty sure

docband has to go in every week.

My son is almost 13 months. Our next appointment was scheduled 4.5

weeks out. We were told 4 weeks, but because of scheduling it is 4.5

weeks. Hopefully, that is not too long. If we notice that the helmet

is getting too tight, I will call and ask for sooner.

My daughter was banded at 9 months with a STARband. We were scheduled every 3 weeks with the understanding that they would get her in if we needed to be be seen sooner.

My daughter is 11 months and has been in her DOC band for almost 8 weeks. She has always gone every 2 weeks for adjustments. I don't see 3 weeks as unreasonable if your child's growth is slow. At one interval, her head had only grown 1mm.. so we could have easily gone another week with the band as it was.

With ours, we only go in once a month--it's a local helmet, not a doc- or star-band.

We go in every 8 weeks and it's a local helmet. My boy just turned 1 year old and he started the treatment when he was 8 mths old. The 1st follow up appointment was 6 wks, then the 2nd was 8 wks, then the next is 8 wks. Is this too long? The doc shaved out quite a bit on the back at each appointment though.

STARband appointments go longer in between than the DOCband. went every 4 weeks as well. I know that they do every two weeks for younger babies. DOCband does every week for younger babies and every 2 weeks for older babies. I think that they don't go longer than 3 weeks for the oldest. I know that STARbands are made with more room for growth before needing to have anything shaved off. I don't know whether that's good or not, it just is.
