A gastro-intestinal specialist who was a guest speaker at the Mt Sinai DS group quite awhile ago said that drinking safflower oil (yes, actually ingesting it or cooking with it) and/or applying it to the skin would help. I'm not totally sure why it was safflower oil, but he mentioned that whatever nutrient was defective and causing the dry skin was found in the safflower oil in spades. all the best, TEresa lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 Dr. Gagner/mt. Guest guest
, you mentioned the safflower oil.....I wonder if dry hair was also a signal for more oil in the diet? Judie

Now that I think of it, our bodies need some fat to go on. I guess I just got so caught up in the gas and all side effects that I turned the 30% absorption into none. So much to learn! ( I WAS starting to worry about my dry skin, as I'm pre-op and it's already dry!) I'm at the point where I'm waiting for insurance approval. I just ate 2 pieces of fried chicken for lunch! As for the dry skin, has already mentioned safflower oil lol (my dogs would think Im food if I put that on my legs).....baby oil seems to work ok too. Also, use oil of olay bath soap or Dove, rather than the harsh ones and eat good fats like olive oil and avacadoes! >> Judie: Someone also mentioned Dove Nutrium... I've used the Dove shower wash and it is really nourishing for the skin. The Nutrium is top-of-the-line (and hence more expensive) and I'm sure would do the trick as well. I wonder if my cats would lick my legs if I applied safflower oil to them? hmmmm...
