Guest guest
Well, it wasn't too graphic, cuz it is ABC. But you'll be asleep the whole time! It actually looked like a thing they have in the dentist office to clean your teeth with. Another thing about the episode, they of course gave her veneers and took her braces off 2 months after surgery (I think). And she had braces for 6 Years!!! Her jaw surgery was first but she looked like she should of had her upper jaw pushed up cuz she was still showing a lot of gums. So that's when they took her to a cosmetic dentist to fix it. Guest guest
They showed jaw surgery? I'm sorry I missed it. I'll have to start TIVOing it from now on. > > > > > > > > > > Did anyone see tonight's Extreme Makover? This 18 year old > girl > > > had an > > > > > underbite. Guest guest
I agree totally about the show, and about Fox, for that matter. I wonder whether they discuss at all what other options might be available for the subjects of their miracle transformations. (and the suggestion, certainly implicit, that their slick cosmetic approach works miracles, is also greatly troubling to me.) But then, I'm the sort of person who probably wouldn't have breast surgery, for bigger or for smaller, or even for reconstruction, unless I had functional reasons for doing it. I just don't like the risks of anesthesia for something that isn't a true, functional improvement. Others feel different. And clearly breast augmentation or reduction is reported to offer some of the highest rates of patients' satisfaction with surgery. (That, too, may be a misleading stat, though: If you have deadly cancer, and it's cured by surgery, that's pretty satisfying. But you're probably also likely to have other similar troubles down the line, and that's not so satisfying. And many folks are, at least for a long time, waiting for another shoe to drop after cancer surgery, or heart surgery. Most of us tend to our jaws, watch for relapses, go back to as much good hygiene as we can manage, and do all the assorted dental health things that everybody ought to be doing.) Anyhow, I don't want to worry about what others choose, unless they're being hurt or exploited, and as long as it's an informed choice. And I presume these women are informed adults; I only hope they've talked with dentists, orthos and surgeons who are trustworthy before deciding. C. > > Don't get me started!
