I received this email after five days, including a weekend and a

holiday, which I thought was a very quick reply. I spoke with his

secretary Joyce this morning and she will work me in on whatever day

I can get an Angel Flight. After I hear back about the Angel

Flight, I will work on getting a room at RMH. I am so excited! It

was good to hear confirmed my thoughts that has somewhat

atypical feet...or toes, at least. Good in one way and sobering in

another... Here is the email from Dr. Ponseti:

As you describe your daughter's feet are not the usual kind of

clubfoot. The position of the toes indicates she has involvement of

the plantar intrinsics. This usually improves in time, but for the

time being she likely would benefit from the use of a brace

which is like a three strap sandal on a molded plastic footplate

attached to the bar.

I would be happy to see your daughter. I see patients in the a.m.

on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. However, we will be closed on

Monday, January 16 for Luther King Day. You should check

with your insurance company to be sure they will cover the cost of

your visit here since I may not be included in your provider

network.

The nearest airport is the Eastern Iowa Airport at Cedar Rapids,

Iowa which is 25 miles from Iowa City. There is a shuttle van which

will bring you to Iowa City. Most of our out-of-town families stay

at Mc House which is near the hospital. The house

manager will bring you to the hospital for your daughter's

care to call on one of those days, she will be happy to make the

appointment. Her direct line is 319 353-7663. When you come for

the appointment, I would like to have you bring with you pictures

taken of her feet before any treatment was started.
