Guest guest
Those are nothing compared to some of the names we had to choose from We tried to find names from both my husband's side and my side of the family to name our 2 boys. We looked at the family tree stuff for quite a while thinking Lemuel and Hiram (both from mu DH's side) are out. Not that I'd use the middle name shared by my grandfather, dad and brother - which is Seaford (my grandfather and dad won't even admit it). And DH's dad would have been upset to have his name used again (Garl). We finally chose Jakob from my husband's great grandfather's last name on his naturalization papers (Jakobson) and Elijah from my great grandfather. The only discussion was whether to spell it Jakob like the naturalization papers or - and that discussion lasted even until the day he was born. When I got pregnant the last time, it was a bit tougher. We still had the same list of " not in this lifetime " names. came from my grandmother's maiden name. His middle name was pulled out of left field. We tried to find out what a couple of " J " middle names were from my DH's family tree until his mom suggested that she'd call my son " CJ " which I am against (no offense to any CJ's out there). Jakob had suggested Anakin (yes, as in Darth Vader's name) until my mom said she couldn't spell it right away. I think came to me in a dream (or something like that) and we felt it was the best we heard. And I agree that Delores is a beautiful name. My favorite aunt is named Delores. And ee, the unusual name suits you. You wouldn't be who you are if you were had a more common name. (who won't share where the name comes from ) kannhoudek wrote: > My grandmother's name was Leona. Guest guest
My parents never got to name my twin sis and I. We were takin from our birth parents at 6 month old and weren't adopted till age 5. I think my sister got the best of the two names here. She is Donna and mine well try goin to work and havein everyone ask you to twich your finger we want it to be time to go home. It was worse when I was a teen, thought it would go away when I reached adult hood. Boy was I wrong. My dh has the kids in on it now. lol Oh well I love my 3 men. novemberfable wrote: If you think ee is bad, you haven't heard my name yet! > > > > For all the pregnant mommies out there-hope this helps! > > > > > http://lifestyle.msn.com/FamilyandParenting/babyandpregnancy/ArticleB C1 > > .aspx?cp-documentid=171164 & GT1=7608 > > > > The link may be too big to become a " direct " one-you may need to > have > > to cut and paste it. Guest guest
I have already started hearing comments about our next baby needing a family name because was my maiden name and is my husband's middle name and his dad's first name. I have started the search on my mom's side first since I have not used anything from her side. They have a very large family, so you would think I could find something. No! My grandmother is Opal which is nice, but I can't see using it. Her maiden name was which doesn't really fit. My mom's maiden name is Godsey, nothing there. My grandpa goes by Roscoe because he doesn't like his first name, Esker. We have names in my family like Viney, Ivey, Lloyd, Boyd and I honestly can't remember the others but you get the idea, they got really desperate. My mom said if I ever name a child after her, she will die, Wanda Carol. I started to think of Caroline as a middle name for a girl. But, my mom's sister past away when I was 10, and her name was Joyce Ann, so I am think of Joyce as a middle name as well. Boy's names aren't quite as hard, but finding something my husband and I both like will be a challenge because we really love . - novemberfable wrote: Alright . Guest guest
That is so fun! My brother-in-law's mother's name is Tresa, because her name was misspelled on the birth certificate. McLaughlin wrote: Oh alright...since you asked so nicely My parents had been looking at house plans when my mom found out she was pregnant with me. The 2 plans they were leaning towards were " The Theresa " and " The " . When I was born, that was the name they chose (Theresa ). Now, I know the next question will be why is my name spelled and not Theresa? Good question. The answer to that is that my grandmother (the same one we got 's name from) misspelled it for my birth certificate My mom was one of those who wanted certain patterns within our family's names. All of us had the same middle and last initials (my dad and brother are DSS, my mom is BSS, and I was TSS until getting married). Also, until the misspelling, we would have all had the same number of letters in our names. novemberfable wrote: > Alright . Guest guest
In my husband's family, the dates are 18th,19th,20th,21st,22nd,23rd, all different months except 2. Then grandkids started coming. The first ruined it because she was born on the 11th. We joked about having to make up the difference between the two families having the babies. My dh's mom thought it was possible. was born on the 19th, so we have 2 on that date now. The next was born on the 16th. We think we will shoot for the 17th with our next one! My hubby, when asked the question whether he wanted a boy or a girl, would respond, " yep " . I was the oldest of five and having a girl seemed right, so I know what you're saying. > Aleksander's middle name is . Funny how there are odd patterns in life like > that! I like that tradition! i wanted to use Neil for Spencer's middle name, but we used which is Neil's middle name (which is his dad's first name). I'm big into the funny patterns myself. I have an aunt who got married on the 26th and all three of her kids were born on the 26th of different months. So cool. My kids have been born on the 28, 29, and 30th. My first son's birthday is on the 12th, but then I realized my hubby's birthday is on the 9th and mine's on the 15th, so it figured into a pattern somewhere.
