Guest guest
Hello friends, I have been following this thread that started with Sandi. There are some things I would like to share if I may. I am one of those fortunate people that has to deal with my food demons on occasion. I believe that dealing with them is what helps me keep in line. The more I can say no to them the less power those demons have. And, to be perfectly honest, I don't have to fight those demons often anymore (once a week instead of a zillion times a day.) I am so grateful for what this surgery had done for me. It has given me the one tool that helps me the most. I still have to use the other tools. I have to be careful of what I put in my mouth because I have been a mindless eater for so long. I have to exercise. I have to keep the sugar and simple carbs out of my house. I have to eat 4 to 6 times a day. I have to remember protein first, fruits and veggies next. I have had to adjust my whole lifestyle and I have only had 2 years of practice where Sandi has had over 20 years of experience. I only hope to be at a point where I don't have to deal with those demons but once a year or so. I have also learned not to base my experience and success on someone elses experience or success. I would certainly hope that no one bases their success on my definition. I have lost only 50% of my excess weight but I have gained my life back. I am no longer in a wheelchair. I don't need a walker anymore. I only use my cane occasionally. I can bathe myself, tie my shoes, dress myself, were normal clothes and not tent dresses, and I feel so okay with myself these days. I can laugh and joke. I don't spend my days crying. To me, this is more successful then whether I have to fight my food demons everyday or not and whether I weight the perfect 130 to 135 lbs I am " suppose to " weigh.
