Guest guest
according to a hematologist I saw a few months ago, ferrous sulfate is too hard on EVERYONE'S GI tract and should be discarded universally in favor of (in this order, according to her): ferrous fumerate, carbonyl iron, ferrous gluconate. You won't need a stool softener with any of the other iron forms, either, so there's another reason sulfate sucks. I am taking two Chromagen Fortes a day (Rx about $47 a month) and my ferritin has jumped from 11 to 61 in ONE month. I can't wait to see what it is next time! Other numbers related to iron have also improved. I am getting B-12 shots every other week and do not take my Chromagen with any vitamin C. I didn't want to introduce a huge number of variables at a time, and the C seemed to complicate things.
