Guest guest
I'm just curious, when people talk about a revision, what does that mean? Thanks in advance, Shanti
Guest guest
I was revised due to staple line disruption. My original surgery was back in the dark ages, 1994. And that's just the way it was done then. I had to have a repair in 2000 Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
A " revision " can refer to changing a VBG to an RNY or BPD/DS, or changing an RNY to a BPD/DS. Guest guest
Other answers have hit it on the nail. Mainly the purpose of a revision is to revise one surgery to another. BUT, in certain situatons a person can have a mechanical problem, (enlarged pouch, stricture, etc.) which would require a revision to repair the defect. In my case, I don't know if I have an enlarged stoma or pouch, but I definitely wasn't bypassed enough by my standards and have had slow weight loss. I know I have done well to get where I am by following the program, for the most part. For me, the revision will be from a proximal bypass to a distal bypass, if I can get insurance to pay for it, and if the surgeon agrees I am a candidate. > I'm just curious, when people talk about a revision, what does that mean? > > > Thanks in advance, > Shanti
