Guest guest
I did see something on tv, maybe our local station, but they were saying not all of the deaths were definately swine flu and many were pneumonia. I think it's another case of freak people out and lets see how many magic beans we can sell them. I'll stick to common sense until my sarcoid docs tell me differently.Join our Sock Challenge for Orphans in Kazakhstan http://groups. yahoo.com/ group/Mittens_ for_Akkol/ grannylunatic@... Subject: Swine fluTo: neurosarcoidosis Date: Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 2:03 PM Are we being decieved by the media hype re; the seriousness of the swine flu? How much of this is hype-- and for those familiar with the "wag the dog" movie-- is there something else going on here. I have to say that I'm fed up with the media -- I'm glad they're telling us that there is a new flu virus out there. With suppressed immune systems- if we were to get sick with anything we're at greater risk of serious illness. I'm wondering if there were 60 deaths worldwide from the "normal" strains of the flu this year? I suspect there was-- and it didn't make the news. Guys, you are all brilliant people, and since no one (except me) has brought this to topic-- I want to applaude you for not going into a panic mode. Do what we always need to do-- wash your hands. Cover your cough. Wear a mask if you know you're going out into a large public group. Drink plenty of fluids, get adequate rest. eat well. Most of all-- trust that you have the knowledge to take care and use common sense approaches to life- that are keeping you as healthy as we can be. Guest guest
The annual U.S. death rate from "regular" flu is around 20,000 people, but you don't see all this panic & talk about closing schools. I think swine flu is like other flu strains, in that those who are very young, very old or immune-suppressed have the highest risk. It's really crazy how people choose what to worry about. The U.S. has about 40,000 traffic deaths each year, babies, kids, teens, young adults, middle-agers, elderly, but I don't know anybody who thinks twice about hopping in the car & going for a hamburger. Guest guest
We had to do something to distrract the commonfolk from worrying about their next meal, and have an excuse to release 15.1 billion dollars to the govt agencies to handle the percieved crisis. My husand reminded me of the "Wag the Dog" process-- how about if they take the money and fund some national health care so that everyone can get the normal medical care they need... Oops, please ban me- I'm going off on too much of a political line-- please, please ban me...
