Hey, all! I don't know if anyone remembers me. There are A LOT of

new names in the group since I was last on.

I had my lap DS with Dr. on February 28, 2001. I just thought

that it my help some of the fearful pre-ops to hear how wonderful

this surgery can be.

My starting weight was 284 lbs at 5' 3 1/2 " . Today I weigh 188. I

believe that I will have reached the 100 pounds lost mark by my 7

month anniversary (and my 39th birthday). It is still so strange to

write that my weight starts with " one hundread and . . . " . It is also

a miracle to know that I will still lose for another year and a

half. I really do believe that I will make it to goal (Dr.

said 164, I'd like 154.)

My BM's are loser than pre-op, but not a problem at all. I pretty

much eat what I want. I get my protein in and also eat Fritos, etc.

I remember being worried about my HUGE sweet tooth as a pre-op. I

LOVED sugar (pastries especially) and I was afraid about the " carb

thing " . Well, I know that I have read many times that this surgery

is on your somach and not your head, but I really feel like the

surgery was also on my head because I have lost my sweet tooth! If

there is a birthday, I'll have a bite or 2 of cake, but then it just

tastes too sweet and I throw the rest away. Yesterday at work they

were giving out ice cream. I got an ice cream bar, ate about half

and just threw the rest away. A co-worker commented that she could

never have done that and that she would have eaten it all out of

habit. Sweets just aren't important to me anymore. It is strange

and wonderful. Of course this does not happen to everyone, but it

did happen to me.

I have never had a moment of regret that I had the DS. I still can't

believe that this new life is real.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to write and ask at

posatitude@... We just mocved into a new home and it is hard for

me to do all I need to do and read all of the posts, but I am happy

to help anyone who writes.

Best of luck to everyone!
