I'm very sorry to hear about the SIDS loss.

I just wanted to say that whatever you do has to truly be out of instinct. If

your pediatrician has scared you so much that you're now afraid to put your baby

on his/her tummy just don't do it. If you're fairly confident and would use the

breathing monitor as an added safeguard that's different. Don't rely on the

monitors too heavily and make sure they have battery backup -- during the power

outtages of New Englad my baby monitor obviously didn't work and my baby cried

his eyes out for hours before I heard him... I know what the Angel one looks

like but I'm unsure about the one that clips on. My children have spent their

share of time in the ER and hospital and those toe oxygen monitors always slip

off since they're taped on. However I was always afraid of spit-up choking and

so I would position my brand new newborns on their side. The ped told me that

they won't choke and I said I don't believe it. I don't want to suggest that

people just put their kids on their tummies. I had my daughter sleep right next

to me and I would wake up every hour to check on her...

Anyway this is kind of off topic but it also kind of supports the reason why my

son has plagio and not my daughter. He had all types of digestion problems and

allergies at birth and he had a surgery at 2 weeks old and I never gave him

ample tummy time because of that. I also tried putting him to sleep on his tummy

but he would just flop his face straight down in the blanket so that made me

afraid obviously so I kept him on his back. My daughter on the other hand

twisted her face off to the side and stuck her bum up in the air and slept so

well on her tummy from the beginning. So even if I wanted to have my son sleep

on his tummy it's just not his thing yet. We'll see as he grows.

Luckily we can all treat the plagio and that is encouraging.
