Happy New Year! Has anyone been on a long road trip? My husband and I are leaving for land on thursday, to visit our daughter and her family. Our 4 yr old granddaughter does not know we are coming! What a surprise! I am concerned about the pain in my legs as we travel, and the incontinence. My legs I can strech out I have a bed in the back of the van, but I also get car sick even at 61??? Too many dilemas. The incontinence can come on so suddenly and at that point it is painful and I have to let it burst. Has anyone tried any products that might help i.e. rubber pants Does anyone take water pills for the swelling? I am afraid of them. I am so excited to get away! Bye for now your sarc friend Anne

Anne

There is a product called a woman's urinal. It is neat I use it on road trips. I also wear the inconstancy pants. Depends works well. they hold a lot of accidents. Jim and I go on road trips all the time. Although I worry about the same things as you it seems I worry more than I need to. Stopping at rest stops and gas stations helps. He doesn't care he understands.

Hi Anne,

What a good idea - your coming to visit will be a great

surprise to your little Granddaughter! Like you, I have a lot

of trouble traveling.........incontinence and leg pain also. I

keep diapers (made for wearing while you sleep) on hand

and they do help..........but, like you, when I have to go, I

do not have much notice and I hurt terribly. And it seems

like we are NEVER near a station or a rest station! :-)

What I do is ask hubby to stop every so often and I go and

use the restroom even if I do not feel like I need to. That

seems to help a lot. As for the "water pills"--------I take one

each day, but.........NEVER when I am traveling -- because

I cannot never hold my urine when I take those pills! I have

a lot of trouble with swelling in my ankles, legs, and hands,

so I do have to take those pills, but NOT when traveling.

Have a wonderful trip and hug and kiss that little precious one.

It will also help to stop and walk around the vehicle a little bit

at least each hour. It only takes a couple of minutes and it does

make a lot of difference. It helps with the pain as well as the

swelling.

Hope this helps. Have a safe and happy trip.

Hugs,

Darlene

Anne,I don't have any remedies for your trip, except that I don't recommend taking the water pills while travelling. Hope you have the best time with your family. I live in land. It's around 25-30 degrees right now, and I anticipate it staying around this temp for a week. I live in Columbia, land. If you are close, we can have lunch.Naa Koshie "How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and the strong. Darlene, Do you see below where it says CHATROOM LINK, then it says http://www.sarcbudd ies.com/chat? you need to close the break between d and ies and remove the /chat then is should work. Does that make better sense? I hope so, let me know if not. Thank you so very much, Marla
