I slept all of the time until I received my diagnosis of Major Affective Disorder. (depression). I now sleep an amount of time that is normal for me. It is just the time of my sleep that is still abnormal. I spent many years trying to adjust to " normal " peoples hours and I can't. I am just a born farmer. Asleep by 8 or 9, up by 3 or 4 or even two. That is me and will never be anyone else, so there, Normal people. Guest guest
I guess I'm just one of these people that needs my sleep. Give me about 10 hrs and I'm a happy camper. I was even that way as a kid so being fat or thin it never really mattered. I've also been a late nighter, but now going to sleep at 10 and getting up at 10 is wonderful (then again, I'm finished with school until Sept and am unemployed which helps). But get me on a computer and I'm here all day long (I just wish that I was like Jacque and have my DH on another computer to email him I need a protein.....he he) Tina T (aka The Elf w/jelly bean toes) Spanaway, WA Dr. Oh (Federal Way) 08/28/01 60 " distal RNY 03/03/03 hernia repair/TT starting weight 230 current weight 120 AMOS website: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=T988383498 Re: Sleep I had an awful time sleeping the first two years post-op. I heard somewhere that it was due to the rapid weight loss and metabolism being screwed up. Whatever it was, it sucked. Still have problems sleeping through the night. Have always been a night owl, but even going to bed really late, 1-2 a.m., I get 2-3 hours then am up for the rest of the night. Doc gave me a prescription for Ambien and I take it once or twice a month to " catch-up " and always feel much better in the morning. However, can definitely say my sleep pattern since wls has been completely altered. Thank God I don't require a lot of sleep to begin with. My friends tell me that they would go nuts if they only had 3-4 hours of sleep a night. Then they wonder why I'm so wacky. lol Regina Homepage: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG Unsubscribe: mailto:Graduate-OSSG-unsubscribe
Guest guest
Which is exactly WHY I use a sleep mask and ear plugs. The least little noise or light will have me awake and miserable. God help me if I think about something that REALLY needs to be done in the middle of the night....even if it is something that CAN'T be done right then. The sad thing is....by morning...I am usually so tired that I forget to do what kept me awake all night...then it starts all over again. At some point I really start panicking....that is why the meds. They have helped so much. But worse, I'm still answering it AFTER I am asleep. When I get up to visit the facility, I'm still writing answers. Sometimes I have go do it so I can get back to sleep. I have no brain off switch at night and no brain ON switch in the morning Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. T www.vitalady.com
Guest guest
Glad the Ambien works for you. They gave it to me in the sleep lab but,,,,alas,,,,three hours later,,,,BINGO,,,,awake,,,,nothing worked,,,,absolutely nothing,,,,,for me except me finding an old prescription I had had for a year or two before surgery. I tried .25g of Xanax along with Tylenol PM,,,,,bingo,,,,,,blessed sleep for sometimes seven hours even. No drug hangover,,,,,no sluggishness,,,,,etc. That worked so good my PCP and I sat down and decided one day to try an anti-anxiety drug on a daily basis to help me address lifelong inclinations to make really bad decisons when on the downslides I get,,,,NO GOOD,,,,I was on Buspar and in bed,,,,,,:-( I felt like I was walking in ankle deep sand constantly. So fortunately I seem to have found what works for me as of now. The sleep prob, however, led me to a series of health devasting behaviors and habits in trying to cope with it, and some of those are still around. The only thing I can see clearly now in retrospect is some oder in the chicken and egg priority determinations. Guest guest
Thanks for the tip, Marjie. I don't plan on seeing my doc in the next few weeks, but I will definitely mention this next time. in NJ ********************* In a message dated 6/28/2003 10:42:41 PM Eastern Daylight Time, jonnysgirl81@... writes: > Doc called in a replacement of Restoril and it is working beautifully. Guest guest
My doc gave me a scrip for Ambien, too, but my problem is not falling asleep, it's staying asleep. With the Ambien, I'm good for 4 hours, then wide awake. I find Tylenol PM works better for me. At least sometimes, it helps me fall back asleep...not so with Ambien. Recently have a lot of stuff going on here and needed some sleep help. Called my doc and he was ready to give me Ambien. We have no health insurance at the moment (8/1 can't come fast enough) and when I called the pharmacy they said that the Ambien would be $95 (for 30 freaking pills!). Doc called in a replacement of Restoril and it is working beautifully. It has a 6 - 8 hour capacity so I don't wake up groggy but get a full nights sleep.
