Guest guest
My husband has been saying for over a year he'd get one. He even talked to some friends (his 2 closest has had one done) and found out that it's not too bad. But, after he got the nerve up, I lost mine. I didn't want to make a rash decision- we only have one together and he has 1 with his ex, so maybe we'll want another one in a year or so??? So, I got an IUD- stays good for 5 years and the only thing more effective is the surgery. Now, he's scared all over again to get a vasectomy. I'm still on the wall, but when it comes down to it, he'll get his done before I get mine done. The military will pay for his, but not mine. Guest guest
ya...that's what I'm afraid of too. I really don't think I have a fourth one in me, this one here is wearing me out way worse than the previous two. Guest guest
My mom had her last when she was almost 41 (therefore I have a 19 year old sister). I turned 37 four days after I gave birth to Hayden and I gotta tell ya - the sleep deprivation is KILLING me! Even three years ago when I had my second, it was not this bad. Even if I wanted another baby for the joy that it brings, I don't think I could a) put my body through pregnancy again and put my body through the physical hardships of post-pregnancy again. I also think I am getting into that zone where I am becoming more selfish and just want to be able to do things for me. Silly me makes all these plans to work on all of these projects when I am on maternity leave and yeah......nothing's exactly getting done! That being said, I'm gonna enjoy this last baby for all it's worth! number23 wrote: ya...that's what I'm afraid of too. Guest guest
Well the other thing about the vasectomy/tubal ligation debate is that you hear more stories about pregnacy resulting from vasectomies than from ligations. We do have a doctor here who does scalpel-less, painless vasectomy, so it's not like it would be that big of a deal, but I know that if my husband got a vasectomy done, I'd have to ride his ass to go and get checked for the madatory length of time. I'm barely letting him near me right now because I am aware that I am ovulating even though I don't have a period. Oh, I just could NOT imagine being pregnant right now!! bruinbelle29 wrote: I also told my husband that since I'm already going to the hospital, I may as well get it done. But he insisted that he take care of business. Fine. But has he made any effort into getting an appointment? Of course not! In fact, he was going to get it done last year but he said that during the mandatory " information video " that they show the guys, he broke out in a cold sweat and said he started feeling dizzy. He couldn't go through with it! Two months later...I'm knocked up again! And here we are today. I'm going to take Carol's advice and get that appointment for him. :-) Janice Just make the appointment for him like I did...it worked better that way. hehehe > > Carol > Re: Re: DBB alternatives? > > > I told him I wanted my tubes tied and he said he'd get himself done instead...now following through is a different matter. > s. Guest guest
I so hear you. There just comes the time when you gotta know when to say When. Two years ago was a cake walk compared to carrying this one. I wish I would have / could have started much younger but evidently God had other plans for me so despite my efforts no children came along till late. I'm forever thankful, but I kwym about wanting some " me " time and thinking how old i'm gonna be by the time these two younger one fly the coop. s. Guest guest
I turned 36 2 days after having Logan (23 hours of med free-not by choice-labor then c section). My dh is a couple years older than me. In the sleepless night period we were constantly saying we were too old for this. I did the same thing with my maternity leave. I just kept saying, I'll be home for 5 months, I'll do it then. Now I know why everyone laughed at me when I said that! I even thought I could help gut our upstairs bathroom while I was home. I'm lucky if I get time to go to the bathroom. Now tomorrow I have to start work again. :-( and Logan Re: Re: ot- vasectomy My mom had her last when she was almost 41 (therefore I have a 19 year old sister). Guest guest
We've been working on our house for nearly two years now and some times dh gripes I don't have our bathroom done yet (sheet rock/cosmetic repairs) and it's like, HUH? I may be home all day but I also have two other kids and 3rd trimester pregnant, I'm so wore out most the time now days I'm lucky to clean the bathroom, let alone FIX the bathroom. If we had 2 I could probably get more done but the idea of sheet rock mud and crap all over the place in a room we have to use is miserable and then there's the fact I have to pee every fifteen minutes, ha ha and like you said, when I do use the bathroom I always have a short audience hovering over me. s. Guest guest
My bathroom is in terrible shape, too. My bedroom, though, has had the wallpaper pulled off and the paint to paint it, since the birth of my second daughter about five years ago now. LOL How sad is that?? Hubby and I both feel like we get nothing done around here, and well, we don't. LOL Joy --- number23 wrote: > We've been working on our house for nearly two years now and some times dh > gripes I don't have our bathroom done yet (sheet rock/cosmetic repairs) and > it's like, HUH? Guest guest
I think the difference is the amount of folic acid. Prescription vitamin have 1 mg and over-the-counter vitamins have, I believe, 400 mcg. I think that the amounts of the other vitamins are similar. Guest guest
I don't think there's a significant difference. You can read and compare the labels. I use the OTC because Rx make me feel sick. s. Guest guest
I totally agree with you Kori - women especially should know their own body and the signals it puts out. I think I've read the book you mention or one just like it...but nothing is perfect, and our bodies can (and do) at times forget to read the book and do weird things anyway - such as have periods for a few months after conception, for example. My periods are not regular, and I don't always ovulate, either. Then again, although I know the signs of ovulation it's never helped me gt pregnant when I wanted to, my basal temp is all over the chart, and I had no obvious signs of ovulation when I concieved this last one. If a baby is completely out of the question, birth control is a must - depending on body signals is not fool proof! Save that method for a secure marriage where a baby would not devistate your life. And as the mother of sons here, I fully intend to educate my boys that they MUST use their own forms of birth control unless they want their girl friends knocked up cuz as a woman I know as a fact how girls will tend to lie and trick a man in to a baby. s.
