Shingles Vacine

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone in this group has received the shingles vacine and if

so, what results they experienced. The reason I am asking is I went into my

doctor's office today for routine labwork, only to find out when I turned my

head that the technician gave me a shingles vacine. I couldn't believe it and

now, of course, I am freaking out as I am fearful of getting shingles or chicken

pox. I have always avoided flu shots for fear of getting the flu etc. I know

everyone kept apologizing but I kept telling them I have been through too much

to fear getting this on top of everything.

Any information you can give me is most appreciated.

I got my first case of shingles in my life last year. It was terrible but I

got over it. I was given pills and cream and after my stress subsided I was

fine. Then I heard about the shot. I haven't gotten it yet but I intend

to. I don't ever want to go through that again.

I am not afraid of the shot I am afraid of getting shingles again.

The shingles vaccine is a "live" vaccine. All of my docs have said to stay clear of it. As for getting it when you've already had shingles-- I don't think they recommend it. I'd be talking with my doc and my pharmacist to see what they think.
