Guest guest
Jane, Today I can fit in my first finger not quite up to the first knuckle (according to my lower teeth. The splint doesn't allow for accurate measurement.) I don't know what kind of baby toothbrush you have, but I found one with a rather narrow tapered head that I can fit in really well- definitely if you can fit in your finger (unless your fingers are teeny tiny). So maybe, if it's worth it and $2 extra bucks can be spared, check out some of the different shaped brush heads on the baby toothbrushes. I'm glad you figured out what is going on withyour cheeks. Biting them would definitely hurt!! I've been doing that a little... we have the same problem with having the upper jaw moved over and widened. Mine was also moved to the left and I think I have less room in my cheeks on that side now. I have a harder time fitting my toothbrush in over there and putting on my bands. It is weird to think about actually. I had a lot of pain develop over the weekend. I took myself to the surgeon's office directly Monday morning and inquired. Well the pain isn't better, but I feel a lot better knowing at least that it's normal and everything is still good to go. Phew! Good luck with trying to chew only food and no cheeks or lips!! I can't really chew. The splint totally is a nuisance. And I am so numb in places that I " lose " food in there and can't figure out what I am doing. I don't know if I am chewing or where the food is or anything. I think it'll be better without the splint! Don't you!?!?! Here's to our thumbs!!!
