Guest guest
Subject: Re: and -ODD This is long guys. Do I spell that right? AS I mean. Every child is so different than each other. So I am about to describe each of my kids. Husband: diagnosed with AS Can't stand loud or repeating noises. Needs a lot of quiet time Can't make a decision to dave his life. He works on it but all the possiblities get in the way. I have to help him narrow it down and prioritize it. He is fluent in English and several other languages. He could be in Menza his language is so incredible. He can't commmunicate. He can't say what he wants to others except for me with out long pauses between words and thinking. He comes across as short, brass, and rude. Extremely rude. He tells you what he thinks. He cannot understand emotions nor does he want to. He cannot hold a job as a result of all of the above. He is brillant but can't manage himself to do his won job. He now works for me as my secretary as long as he isn't the receptionist. He would be fabulous at research but can't decide where to begin. He needs to be assigned a topic for example. Me- I am AS and Dyslexic and Dysgraphic with sensory issues and seizures. I no longer do the side eyes, I can look people in faces now and no longer get sick doing new things or meeting new people. I think in pictures. Rebekah-23 ODD AS ADHD Big sensory issues. SHe was a result of the shots in England during the late 70's and early 80's. Lots of Autistic kids there. She is very socially inappropriate. I wrote a lot about her in other emails. Reading by 18 months. -22 AS almost NT now. She had some quirks as a child. Side eyes for example. (That is when you look at things from the side for fun, or to look at people.) She says she still does it in private and last year made it a goal to look at people in the face. She didn't walk until she was almost 2. She crawled backwards looking behind her as she went. She didn't make a sound until she was 3. I asked a doctor if she had a voice box. He told me to count my bleesings. At three she suddenly out of the blue started talking in sentences. She wouldn't do anything until she knew how then she would do it perfectly. Swimming for example she would sit and watch everyone swim. On the last day of lessons she jumped in the pool and won the race. She had make believe friends and each had their own voice she would make up. She was extremely shy. Now she is a radio broadcaster. ph 21 NT??? liked to pick on people by tapping them. Big goof off. Gifted underacheiver. The next two were the terror twins until we took them off milk Now they are very laid back unless there is an infractions like yesterday. Fortunately, they just beat each other up. FUnny huh? 19 AS Computer nerd. Dropped out of school in 8th grade and started college classes on his own. He is very shy. Can't stand phones. Designs web pages for people. Made his won cubby hole in our living room with his computer stuff. Has decided to overcome his obstacles so some times he is outgoing and social. He can't make decisions like his dad. He will go somewhere someday. like his sister he didn't talk until he was five. THen he had his own language. Doesn't do side eyes much anymore. 17 AS Computer nerd. Had his own language until he was 5 that only could understand. Couldn't count to 1 until he was 8. no idea about seguences until he was ten. Extremely shy. We have melt downs with both of the above if they haven't had enough computer time. He isn't on the earth yet. Still lives in his own world. Designs aircraft and space ships constantly. He is a walking encyclopedia. -15 NT!!!!! Loves baseball and is upset that his brothers can't figure out how to throw it! He has a lot on his plate to do and help with so many siblings with AS Seth 13 AS ADD Sigh. We are still working on this one. loves art. He is very much like his Dad. He is very socially inappropriate but on the overly affectionate extreme. Kisses strangers for example. Well that stopped a couple of years ago. He didn't talk until he was 7. photographic memory. Gifted underachiever. Routine walking in concentric circles through the day. I did a colon cleanse, yeast free diet here, removed heay metals, etc. 12 NT What a gift. 10 NT A dancer and her second year in a dance company. 8 NT Upset that his brothers won't play ball but isn't good enough yet for peter. Enoch 6 CP/Autism/ Angelman's? Can't walk. Can't talk. Can't imitate, can follow directions, Side eyes, stims all the classic Autism things. Getting better on the diet. 2 NT. BUt she toe walks because she imitates RAchel dancing ballet around the house. What would set my children off are change of routines, even in our crazy household a change might mean going somewhere instead of staying home. Milk Milk products We had to be careful with SEth and Rebekah on wording. We try to keep stress levels down for everyone. I do a lot of deep pressure on the more agitated kids. I use a lot of rewards to get things down. We use time out for behaviors. We have behavioral contacts. WE give lots of computer time since that seems to calm down their very busy brains. we only learned about Autism four years ago so we are still learning what works with each child. I think that sensory is a big issue with these kids. I will probably do heavy metal detox one at a time. THe only one is seems to need to be GF is Enoch. We did a big elimination diet on all the kids 15 years ago. Then figured out their allergies. THen the next kids have been normal until Enoch. __________________________________________________
