I had (have) the constipation form --- with spastic colon. My colon (the

upper part right after the small intestines) seizes up and spasms at times

and it can be really painful, but it is localized pain in the lower right

quadrant of my abdomen.

I had a colonoscopy to rule out other problems and they did find a benign

polyp (I have to do that AGAIN soon! AGH! Every year!), but also found out

about the spastic colon since my body grabbed the scope and he had difficulty

getting it out! That was really painful! The rest of the colonoscopy wasn't

a problem at all. :)

As a post-op, I haven't had problems with diahhrea. My bm's were loose in

the first three weeks but never uncontrollable. I'm pretty regular, going

once or twice in the a.m. most days. IF I'm particularly stressed out (as I

have been after the WTC/Pentagon attacks), then I may be more frequent

(adding one in the afternoon or evening), but I've never constantly been on

the toilet or been unable to get out and about.

all the best,
