Guest guest
Hey beckita. =) I live in Houston, and the closest DS doc for me was in Ocean Springs, Miss. There are no DS surgeons in Texas, so yes, you'll have to travel. The LifeShape clinic (my surgeon's clinic) does not charge a program fee, and the ladies will bend over backwards to get you approved and scheduled for surgery. Look around at us.. its a bunch of good surgeons. Wherever you go, I wish you the best of luck! Hugs, Liane > I live in Dallas, Tx, and cannot find a surgeon locally. Looks like > I will have to go out of state, what concerns me is the program fee > that is due over and above the insurance covered fee. Is this > typical of all DS surgeons to charge this fee? I also want to go > Laproscopic to minimize my hospital stay, but going out of state and > being away from the doctor when I return to Dallas worries me. > Should I book a hotel for a week following the surgery, to be close > to the doctor? I'm I going to be able to fly back home so soon after > the surgery, if I decide not to stay close by?
Guest guest
Sweet Angel... I think the best way to deal with someone who is uninformed is to become quite informed yourself. Start researching the success rate of losing a large amount of weight. I think you will find that only about 5% of the people maintain weight loss over time. Then start researching success rates of the DS. Good luck! .....Elle
Guest guest
Sorry.... meant to say, I think the success rate of losing weight through " dieting " ... is about 5% when measured over time. The success rate of losing through the DS is somewhere in the range of 70-85% of excess weight. Good luck! .....Elle
Guest guest
Jerry, That sounds exactly like my husband. Once I actually got through the surgery with Dr. Warden, my husband had a new outlook. He was just worried while I was on the table. I am 2 months post-op and now my husband recommends this surgery to people he knows and talks about how wonderful it has been. I think it really helps for us to have our spouses meet with the docs so that they can ask questions to alleviate their own fears about our health and safety. M. in KC help me >Date: Wed, 24 Oct 2001 02:03:26 -0000 > >I am thinking about having the surgery and my husband isnt being as su >[pportive as I thought he would be.
