Guest guest
I was told that after the first couple of months weight loss is normally about 5 lbs. per month. If you are losing 6 lbs. a month, that sounds pretty good to me. The " window " of weight loss is 12-18 months, so even at 5 lbs. a month you would get to your goal with no problem. If the pills make you feel bad, don't take them. Your weight loss so far sounds wonderful and I think you are on the right track. Also, if you are building muscle that will slow the numbers on the scale. You are probably building muscle and losing fat, but the scale won't show that. If you feel good, go with that. As long as the weight is still coming off, you are doing great! Kathy M. DS 7/19/01 213 pre-op 166 today
Guest guest
- My opinion only -- but I don't think there is ANY reason for you to take diet drugs and am actually quite surprised the doctor would prescribe them. Was this the same doc that did your surgery? Six pounds in a month after six months is very common. If you are losing an average of 10 pounds a month, which yours is averaging 14.66 pounds a month, you are doing excellent. The surgery is definitely working for you and I would let it continue to do so. He asked if I have been | eating a lot and I said, yes, I can eat a little bit at a time, | certainly more than I could at first. So he wrote me out a | prescription for phentermine to control my appetite. This has me a | little worried. For one thing is losing only 6 lbs in a month | terribly slow progress after 6 months? I have lost 88 lbs so far. I | don't eat a lot and I don't graze all day and I don't drink a lot of | high sugar drinks. I did start working out last month and I know my | muscle mass has increased. I took the phentermime for two days and | couldn't stand it. It reminded me of the old days of taking diet | drugs and having that speed feeling and having all my muscles aching | and having a splitting headache and not being able to sleep, etc. I | just don't want to go there ever again, that's why I had this | surgery. Have any of you ever taken diet drugs post-op and did it | help? Does the weight loss slow down normally after 6 months or am I | an exception. I figure I have between 35 to 40 lbs to goal. | | | | | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
