Well, I finally got hold of a human at Kaiser, Martha, the receptionist at Kaiser Bariatric, and she confirmed that they do have my paperwork. I also wanted her to explain the steps of this process. She was very nice and explained a lot to me. She told me I should receive the letter of acceptance any time within the next week or two. From there they will call in approx 4 wks for an orientation appt, which is a 2 hr appt with lots of info and that is when we get the WLS BIBLE/BINDER. The orientation is only held once a month on a Saturday. I asked her about the 10% wt loss and when I could start that. She explained to me that they take 3 wts. The one from original paperwork from pcp, one at orientation and one, I think at the next appt which is the consult w/ surgeon/nutritionist/coordinator. She said they will take whichever wt is the highest and start the 10 wt loss from there, so yes I can begin to lose wt now and

it will count toward my 10%. She said that if I am close to that 10% goal at the time of the surgeon consult, they could schedule me for surgery then. I will be going to the Fremont grp, so I don't know if all grps are the same as far as the wt loss goes. Where are you supposed to go? I felt a lot more informed after talking to her. She was so nice and it was time for her to go home but she took the time to explain it to me. So now my goal is to start the 1200 calorie this week. If my calculations are right I could possibly, and that is iffy, be scheduled for the Aug (at the soonest) or Sept orientation, depending on when during the month they are held. I am starting to get more excited. Hopefully I will have the letter by this wk. Be encouraged, once the referral gets there ( they do fax them) you are in the works. It has only been since the middle of March since I started this, so I really feel that's

pretty fast. Are you attending any support grp mtgs? They are very helpful and informational. Best of luck, keep me posted. msvoluptous wrote: Wow im NOT patient either lol. , you are lucky because KP Richmond does not

count any weight loss until the date of orientation.

Whatever you weigh on their scale that day is what

they go by for your 10% loss. I wish you the best of

luck. Be encouraged. Time is good even though we

want it like now. Keep your chin up.
