Hi,was wondering if anyone on the list has ever been to the club med in florida, sandpiper or any other club med's while following SCD. I am going next week and am a bit nervous, I'm going to bring a lot of can's of tuna and salmon (w/nothing else added) and I'm going to send an e-mail to the resort ahead of time since my daughter also is celiac and right now just follows a gf diet.thanks! Someone on this blog is a travel agent named Diane. She will help people who are on the diet if you are traveling. - as far as tips. We are going to Disney in March. I called the number from a previous entry but have not heard from her. So, Diane, if you are still on the blog, please type in your travel agency number as I have a few questions regarding a Disney trip on this diet. Thanks. Marla P. I can advocate for choosing diet and taking care of the cause rather than masking symptoms. I have first-hand knowledge of both approaches. If i had followed my parents would have just followed what doctors said taking medications, eating anything and live as if there were no hope of addressing the cause. I've had Crohn's Disease since I was 15 and that is why I admire the courage that Alyssa has because I knew the courage it took for me. > > I was pressured to follow the drug path, all I heard was I am a little boy and doctors know this and know that. The truth is that doctors know drugs;how to manage symptoms that's all. Drugs have their place but is I more than misguided to think that a bowel disease is not related to diet. Six years after I'm glad I followed this way, before SCD I saw no hope and didn't really expect to wake up the next day. I was dying and nearly did on more than one occasion. I prefer to do something that makes sense to being hopped on steroids, weigh 89lbs and have no sense of my surroundings with life just flying by. I have a long way to go but I'm committed. I have a friend from Sri Lanka that seems to believe that drugs are the way. He has been sick only two years but has had 5 surgeries. He wants to hang out with his friends Everyone wants to be normal but live throws us curveballs sometimes (what do I know about baseball) but we have to adjust so we can still make> contact. Every day I am able to go study what I love I give God thanks.> > Llemar> 21 years old> CD 6 years SCD restarted 18 months> Jamaica>HI Llemar,Thank you for your story. I'm the mom who has the 17 year old with Crohn's. It encourages me to read your thoughts on the drugs. I feel the same. I don't want these in his system-they are so potent and I feel like the doctors themselves don't even know what the long term consequences will be. I feel that they are taking chances with people's lives here. Sort of the approach of, maybe it will work but we can't guarantee that you won't develop something worse. I don't like those odds.I pray that this is going to be the right approach for my son-that God will bless our efforts and bless him with healing. You are right to care for yourself in this way. Keep going and let us know how things are with you.May God Bless You with health.Sherry
