I think it's probably ok. That's why, at least at CT, they tell the parents to take the helmet off every 3 hours to check those red spots. That way they can make any necessary adjustments. Now, if they shave and adjust it, and you still have problems with red spots then I'd be a little concerned. Hope this helped.

My son just turned 7 months and got his helmet yesterday. He just qualified and his condition is very minor. I noticed that his ears are off and that is why I want to go through with the helmet. With my first son they kept telling me it would just round out. It never did and we waited too long and the helmet didn't work. Now I noticed that the target area was causing red marks on his skin. I'm thinking that means it is too tight. I put lipstick on his skim and then it went onto the helmet. I called and they said they will have to shave it. My husband doesn't think the helmet is right. Has this happen to anyone else? Should the helmet already need shaving??? Is this a bad sign?

Adjustments at the beginning are common.

What kind of band do you have?

We had hanger and needed MANY adjustments in the 1st weeks to get the fit right.

It may be that your baby had a growth spurt between scanning and banding so the band is a bit snug.

If the fit is never right even after adjustments then you should be concerned.

Aiden has the starband. I just brought him back and they made some adjustments. The guy who fit him feels that he has a good fit. I hope he is right!!! I think you might be right. Maybe he grew since the scan two weeks ago. I had him scanned at 51/2 months and they said he didn't qualify and to come back. When I went back a month later his head grew very little but his numbers didn't improve so they qualified him. Therefore, maybe his head grew after the second scan. I just hope I'm doing the right thing!
