Guest guest
Congratulations!! I remember my first night of good sleep after we put Kelsey in her brace. It was heavenly. It took us about 2 weeks to really get in the groove and now, a little over one year later, she will not sleep without them. Hopefully, it continues to be smooth sailing for you. He woke, and fussed when laid down on our bed next to me, so my wonderful(at the moment, lol) husband rocked him to sleep. He woke an hr later. Dh took that duty also. I must look like death for him to do night help. ;-) He woke once and kicked around about 2 am, but fell back asleep with us patting and soothing. At 7am, we woke up to realize he was still asleep AND we had not taken the bar off. I drew back the covers thinking he must have kicked it off to be sleeping so long so good, but NOPE!! The bar and shoes were still in place. Albeit he is sleeping in our bed, but u know what, I don't care. My ped. can lecture all he wants. I did tighten the hole/notch one more hole, and he didn't move his foot at all. :-)
Guest guest
Yippee ! I hope things continue to improve. If he was sleeping through the night before but still seems restless after a few more days you might want to still consider widening one notch further. Now you just have to see if he'll do this well in his own bed, unless you want to co-sleep (which is perfectly fine, great even in my book, just your choice, don't let the pediatrician tell you otherwise!) I bet you feel like a new woman!! Glad to hear that Isaac is doing much better, just keep checking his feet - as you are able to continue tightening the shoes I would be very vigilant to be sure he is not getting any sores. Once we get our shoes broken in I am usually able to establish one or two holes that I use all the time, e.g. 4th hole with thicker socks, 5th hole with thinner socks. Also, though as time goes on you will notice the straps stretching and you may eventually be able to go another hole or even 2 more by time he outgrows this pair. Oh, I also recommend keeping them for as long as you can, you can let him wear each pair until his toes are hanging over the end - I've been told until their big toe " knuckle " is actually to the end of the shoe. At this point you may notice fussiness again if the shoes are getting too tight, but you will love how broken in they get and how much easier this gets, also don't be surprised if the first few days whenever you have to get new shoes is a transition period again as they get broken in. You now know, or are at least figuring out, how he likes his bar length, keep this in mind as you go forward because this will happen again as the bar gets too small as he grows. Keep letting us know how he and you are doing and if there is anything else we can help with, please let us know. > > Day 6 is rising, and I got 8.25 hr of sleep only interrupted twice > briefly.
