Guest guest
Hi Alyssa, I feel for you. I have been through this many times, especially during the first few months of SCD. It feels horrible! Definitely take some activated charcoal. I can usually trace this kind of episode to having something fibrous to eat. Have you changed your diet or eaten a lot of veggies that weren't well cooked? The last time this happened to me, I had eaten tons of steamed veggies that were still crisp. You must be so drained. I really hope you feel better soon and are able to sleep restfully. Guest guest
I feel for you. I have been through this many times, especially during the first few months of SCD. It feels horrible!Definitely take some activated charcoal. I will have to get some!I can usually trace this kind of episode to having something fibrous to eat.Have you changed your diet or eaten a lot of veggies that weren't well cooked?Haven't really changed my diet. I forgot to take my Chinese herbs today, but they're illegal anyways. And I had some manuka honey for the first time this morning. Maybe that caused major die off. And I took FCLO for the first time today, but it doesn't seem like that would hurt anything. The last time this happened to me, I had eaten tons of steamed veggies that werestill crisp. You must be so drained. I really hope you feel better soon and are able to sleep restfully.Yeah, thanks =) I don't know what I would do without the support I get here. Thank you everyone so much! Guest guest
just don't take the activated charcoal with anything else, because it absorbs good and bad stuff equally. Like some medications if you need it. I don't know what it will or won't absorb but I don't chance it, I just take it with nothing else.-UC - 1+ yearsSCD - 7 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 5 pills a dayTo: BTVC-SCD From: alcibiades@...Date: Sat, 6 Feb 2010 20:35:26 -0500Subject: Re: Help Me! What have we told you about making two changes or additions to your diet at a time? You don't know which change might be the issue! 3. Take an epsom salt bath. 4. Guest guest
When our upper GI gets hit with a high-fat (or high-fiber) food -- or your immune system takes offense at what it perceives as an invader -- it can increase peristalsis dramatically, trying to get it out of the body. Which causes what you're describing in the lower GI...I had just started drinking some bone broth with two raw eggs blended in when this started, but I was due for a BM anyways since I hadn't gone all day yesterday and all day the day before. Doesn't SEEM like that would've triggered something, unless there was salmonella in the egg yolks. But then I'd probably have been vomiting all over the place as well. Kim,Have you heard of having increased peristalsis as the bodytries to eliminate toxins from die off? This seems more likely to me, rather than a food reaction. Well, I still think it could've been triggered by the manuka honey. Apparently that is STRONG stuff. It could be the FCLO too, I guess. I took the FCLO about 6 hours before the episode started, and the honey about 7 hours before. I guess the only way to find out is to take the FCLO today and not the honey, and see what happens! Thanks for your help guys =) Peace =)Alyssa 15 yoUC April 2008, dx Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)Chinese Herbs (not legal but helping!) Guest guest
Mara I haven't come across a specific mention of the body increasing peristalsis as a result of die-off toxins, but it wouldn't surprise me to learn this happens in some individuals. The information I found in the medical literature concerning increasing persistalsis as a result of a food mentioned only high-fat and high-fiber foods as the trigger. I'll see if I can find something in the medical literature linking die-off toxins to increased peristalsis. I swear my body has the opposite reaction to die-off -- I get a whole lot more constipated!! Which also makes sense. Digestive motility being affected to one extreme or the other. Kim M. Guest guest
cramping non-stopHi Alyssa,When my son sometimes gets cramping he uses Pepto Bismol It may help you too. Just make sure to get the original and not the cherry flavored. It is legal. Hope you feel better soon!Take care,PatElaine writes:I believe that the current treatment for gastric ulcers caused by Heliobacter pylori uses Peptobismol as part of the treatment. It has been very helpful to many IBD suff ers. I believe that the bismuth in the proper amounts works as an antimicrobial (yeast and/or bacteria). I always suggest to those suffering relapse, to talk their GP and ask about peptobismol
