Guest guest
Dear Phyllis; Every word of the warning we issued is true. Our company is known for the high quality and calibre of our products, and known for being trustworthy. I hope you will understand that it takes a great amount of concern and caring to weather this barrage for the sake of trying to warn about a real problem that presents a real danger to sensitive people, particularly to autistic children. It is hard enough for parents to avoid every speck of gluten in the diet, without having to worry about a problem such as this. It is appropriate to mention it here, because although it is rarely mentioned, the bakery which is the subject of our warning has been mentioned on this site in the last year. Although people who have run across this bakery generally know immediately who we mean (see for example the 8/7/01 message from ), we get the message that this is confusing to others. We will review this message to make it clearer. I would hope that in the future should you have a question about us, that you would call us directly. We will be able to answer your questions, and have the data to back up what we say. Apparently this has come up in the past as well, this is a shame, since this confusion could have been addressed long ago had we been contacted directly. This would have avoided misunderstanding and avoided flaming and slamming. Part of the confusion stems from mixing patent related issues into this warning. Unique aspects of this bakery make this an easy way to identify it. That's our reason, but it obviously has created a diversion which was unintended. We hold many patents on gluten-free foods; the patent rights are widespread, far reaching and comprehensive. The patents give us the rights to make the statements we do. Should any of you actually be interested, the website of the US Patent and Trademark Office contains a search engine for the patent literature, and if you search under my last name, Slimak, as inventor and search for all years, you will receive a list for the US, but not for the many other countries all around the world in which I hold patents as well. You can read the US cases online. The issues questioned by many on this list are generally the stuff of licensing agreements and royalties, etc. I suggest that they are not topics for this list, but for the rather dry legal world, which is where they belong. We are pursuing our rights there. But should someone want to decide whether they think our rights are as we say they are, well go straight to the source, the patent office files, and read online for yourselves; then get a legal opinion. Special Foods Slimak, President These statements are slanderous and libelous: >>Makes me not trust Special foods.com. If they lie about that, who's to say they are not lying about their own products to sell them.<< > Ditto this from me. The claim is bogus and proves ANYONE can claim anything > on the internet so beware. > Jay at Miss Roben's >
