I am a psych-ARNP which is a psychiatriac nurse practitioner. I

opted NOT to do the adult NP as well.

NPs specialize. They may be:

ANP=adult

FNP=family

WHNP=women's health

NMNP=nurse midwife

PNP=peds

NNNP=neonatal

ACNP=acute care

Psych

....and there are more. The actual letters depend upon the state you

are working in. I'm a nurse practitioner and clinical nurse

spcialist in 2 states and have very different letters after my name

depending on which state I am working in. The credentialling

requirements are pretty much national despite the different titles

state by state

in Seattle
