Guest guest
Hi , I hope the tenotomy goes well...please let us know how Hayden does with it. I was curious about the $900 you stated in your e-mail for the shoes. I just e-mailed Jean at MD Ortho about having the shoes sent to Canada and this was her reply: " Dear Halley- I would send the impression kit by priority mail so hopefully you would get it within a week. I would have to ask the postmaster how long it would take to get to Canada. It would take approximately 2 weeks to get the brace to you after we receive the impression back from you. It would cost $372.00 plus shipping which if you sent me your postal code I could let you know how much that would be. Thanks, Jean " When I converted that to Canadian dollars, it come to about $426.48 CDN plus whatever they charge for shipping (probably not too much). This is still a high price, especially since these little ones tend to grow so fast but it's much lower than $900 so that may help. Are you going to try the Markells first? I am following Hayden's progress and hope that all is going well and that he LOVES his DBB ! We are probably going to see Dr. Pirani either to do the tenotomy or to check his feet after the 3 week cast comes off. I haven't heard back as to when it would be best to have him check Keira's feet. I would love to get together when we are in Vancouver. It won't be until end of Jan or beginning of February though. Take care! Halley Today's the Day! So today we are going for Hayden's tenotomy, unless anything has changed and Dr. Pirani tells us otherwise. For anyone who was wondering - I got the quote yesterday for the shoes (without the bar as Angel has offered us her spare - thanks again!) We decided to go through the orthotics place because we were told we may have problems getting it covered if we went directly through . Anyway, the total for the shoes is $900 CDN. Whew! But hubby and I both feel that we will pay whatever it costs so we can see our son walk and run. I am not sure if my extended (hubby is self-employed) will cover the entire cost, and Dr. Pirani said he would write a letter with whatever wording would help, but we figure even if we have to take the whole burden ourselves, so be it. Anyway - there you have it! I will post later today if I get the chance and let you know how it went. Our appointment is at 1:00 (PST) today. Guest guest
I guess the $900 is the markup that the orthotics place is putting on the shoes. They told me I could do it myself but that I could have problems with my extended covering it without a prescription. We are going to try the shoes first because he has the Complex feet, but may move to the Markells if all goes well.
