Guest guest
Mickey- according to Dr. Hess and my mom's bone doc, the hydroxyapatite is better absorbed, PLUS, the cal apatite will actually help your body rebuild lost bone. My mom had an infected elbow prosthesis removed before I had surgery, & because of what I'd heard about the cal-apatite, I bought her a bottle & asked her to take it. My mom has active osteoparosis, & the surgeon had planned to use donor bone when he replaced the elbow prosthesis.. but after 8 weeks on the cal-apatite, enough bone had regrown that he didn't need donor bone. Anyway, since she has osteoparosis, I thought that I'd do well to use the cal-apatite to keep from having bone loss. I still take the ca citrate, but I take it half and half..I know my mom's experience may have been a fluke, but if Dr. Hess feels its a better source of calcium, then I'll take his word for it! Hope that helped.. Guest guest
Lili - Thanks for the answer ~ That was awesome for your mom!!! I'm sure she thanked you!! =) I had never heard of that form of Calcium. It makes a lot of sense....I think I will ask my nutritionist about it when I am in NY in a couple weeks too. I will be having bloodwork done at the end of this week, so we'll see where my calcium comes in at. Thanks again - as always everyone here is sooo helpful!!
