Guest guest
I know these things are common after surgery, but not for how long. I am curious how long it took different people to have some energy back. I look at the pile of dishes and get tired just thinking about washing them. Also, I find I am still most comfortable sleeping in the recliner, not so much for my incisions... but to help keep the acids down. And it's not just acid, I can feel food raising in my throat. I don't think I am eating much, but it is almost like there isn't room in my stomach to hold it so it fills up into my throat. Anyone else? I take Protonix, Tums, simethicone, Pepto-Bismal. Guest guest
Maggie, I am sorry that your recovery is not going well. I have heard of people being nauseated post-op. Most of them were able to get a prescription from their surgeon for motion-sickness medines that helped ease the symptoms. I was told that my stomach would hold four ounces post-op. Well it didn't hold 4 ounces. I think that this was due to the swelling. On average it held 2 to 2 1/2 ounces until I got to about 4 weeks post op when it moved up to about 4 ounces. I bought a postal scale at a local office supply store and just weighed the food before I ate it so I would know for sure what I could comfortably hold. Now being the glutton I am I had to do it this way becuase I could easily go over what my stomach would hold and then I would have nausea and cramps as well as difficulty breathing. Now at 8 weeks post-op I can visually measure out how much my stomach can hold. > I know these things are common after surgery, but not for how long.
