Guest guest
Trish, First off, congrats on making it past the casts My son just went into the FAB 2 weeks ago and he hated it too. I *think* he's adjusted now, but for 10 days, there was almost no sleep (none longer than 45 min at a time), and very fussy nights. In our case, Eli's shoes were too big; they slipped off very easily, which was really bad on his heels. It doesn't sound like you're having any skin issues, so it's probably just a matter of your son adjusting to the bar. We found that Eli slept better in his infant (car) seat. We just put the whole thing in his crib. He normally hates it, but for 2 days, that was the only way he could sleep longer than 45 minutes. I think it was because it elevated his feet a little, and made him feel 'secure'. (The rolled towel under the feet has not worked for us.) We also gave him a little bit of tylonel (.3) two nights and that seemed to help him sleep a little better also. (We checked with a nurse/dr. first - they advised it to help him with the discomfort while he slept.) We are at 14 days and things are starting to get better, so my advice for you is give it a little longer. Every kid has a different 'threshold' for pain/discomfort. Your son will adjust eventually.
