I am starting to use this more as a journal than anything else, but

for those of you who care to read here is the latest in my journey to

get Maysa the round head she was born with back:

So today we went to our appointment with Hanger in andria, VA.

It went well, although after visiting three other places prior to

seeing them I feel like I expect more each time. Everybody in that

practice was super nice, friendly and caring. I liked that a lot.

Then " " took me in a consultation room and started to get the

info she needed to get from me. All along, I though that she was an

assistant doing the paperwork for the ortho, she looks so so young

(high school student young!). But no, she is the ortho herself! She

tooks Maysa's measurements and basically put her at 99% for

brachycephaly and like the others said that her asymetry was very

minimal.

She could not show me a helmet because she didn't have one available

but it looked like those from STARband on a picture. She didn't want

to scan her today because she wants to send all the paperwork to my

insurance to make sure that it will be covered. What I found

interesting is that their band is much cheaper than any other: $1750

as opposed to $2700 to $2900 to $3600 for Orthoamerica, ECA and CT

respectively.

The lady at the front office was adament that my insurance would

cover the cost while all other places basically said that it

wouldn't. I am curious to see what they will hear back from them.

This said, I contacted ECA again to see if they could fit Maysa for

one of their helmets sooner than in two weeks (the ortho that saw her

is going on vacation for a week and hence the delay). The answer is

yes. Terpenning will get the molding done and his partner will be

able to fit her next week. I am so excited for her!

I would still love to hear from people who've had to deal with ECA

either in the DC or NY area.

Thanks,

Leila (mother of Maysa, 5w 1m, soon to wear an ECA band)
