Guest guest
I just took off my son's shoes and he has a pressure sore. He wears the shoes and DBB 21 hours a day now. The sore is white-ish and is like a blister but hard (it doesn't look fluid filled like a blister) Any advice on what to do about the sore?? I'm worried about putting the shoes back on.. will it make it worse? Your help is appreciated! Reid and --------------------------------- Yahoo! DSL Something to write home about. Guest guest
Although we have never expierenced the white-ish part. My daughter will get red marks, that if you let them go with turn to raw spots, and blister like. We buy cling gauze ($7 for 5 rolls), and some medical tape, and I wrap her feet in them. This works great with tights too! I also put Moel FOAM on the tongue of her s to give her extra padding. This all works great. The minute I differ from it, it gets bad again. This is what I would suggest trying. --------------------------------- Yahoo! Shopping Find Great Deals on Holiday Gifts at Yahoo! Guest guest
Are the shoes big enough with all the extra gauze, foam, etc? Should we wait until the sore completely heals before we put the gauze, etc. and shoes back on? Thanks Christee. Reid Christee wrote: Although we have never expierenced the white-ish part. Guest guest
My son has the exact type of sore you describe-it has never gotten to the point of a blister or pressure sore per se. I notice it especially prevalent after time when his shoes were not tight enough. since your little guy has been pulling his feet out of the shoe-my bet is that he has been rubbing that skin raw with his houdini-ness. Have you managed to keep the foot in? If so, the sore should not get any worse-just keep an eye on it and make sure the shoes are nice and tight. If he is still being a houdini-i would go to your doctor for a checkup!! Like I said-he has had this " mark " for roughly 6 mo and it usually is because he had rubbed his ankle against either his day shoes or night shoes the wrong way! hth, kathleen mom to david fab 12.7 > Although we have never expierenced the white-ish part. Guest guest
Oh ya, shoes are plenty big enough for this! Wrap them all the way around about 4X. You can also cut and fold a separate piece to tape to the main sore spot itself before wrapping the whole foot for a little extra padding and comfort. You may notice that you cant tighten them to the same notch, but thats a give. But they are plenty big enough to do this. IF they are not, you may need bigger shoes? Start in tonight on it! Put a little Neosporin or Aquafor (this is what I use) on for help healing the sore area, and also to prevent. Then wrap it up. The sore will heal well under the cling gauze as it is breathable. Call me if you have any questions! Christee PST 8am-10pm --------------------------------- Yahoo! for Good - Make a difference this year. Guest guest
Kori is the pressure sore guru - hopefully she'll see this. If not, find one of her old posts and email her privately. I do know several people have cut holes in the heel to prevent pressure sores. I do believe Kori has pics and directions for doing this.
