Another question about knee pain

I also have severe knee pain when I stand or walk, and I know I

have arthritis and bone spurs. I also have a strange thing that

happens to the muscle above my knee. Sometimes if I move my leg when

I am sleeping or when I get up and start to walk the whole muscle

above my knee just seems to lock up. It is not like a charlie

horse. It is hard to explain it just seems to get hard and freezes

up. Any ideas on what this could be would be appreciated.
