Walmart has metal canes that can be adjusted for heigth. I found a really pretty one with purlple flowers on it for under $20. It was the best $20 I ever spent! I used it for several years until I had several falls & decided it was time to get a walker. The paperwork for the scooters have to be written up a certain way by the doc. The way my neuro wrote it up said I could get around my house using the walker so the place trying to sell me the scooter didn't turn it in & wanted my doc to rewrite the letter. I wasn't going through all that so I have a 2nd hand wheelchair for the really bad days but I'm not going to give in on walking with my walker at this point. I know someday I may have to use the wheelchair all the time but I'm fighting to keep my legs going!

Neither my daughter nor myself can drive. I had to bus all the way back almost to my apartment and transfer to another bus when it was due. I shopped before the other bus arrived and it was well past time to eat. I'm not being as irresponsible as it sounds but I have been told the Cytoxin is not working and my 4th ventricle is closing. Can you say coma? Sure you can! (in my best imitation of Mr. Rodgers) I am going to take care of myself as best I can but I'm going to enjoy what life I have left. I'll take all the prayers I can get. I pray for everyone in the group. I appreciate all the medical articles and info that you work so hard to get for us even though you aren't well yourself. I had one of those 4 prong canes & all I did was trip over the prongs! LOL I'm glad she's at least using the cane some. When the cane doesn't work she migh accept a walker easier than a wheelchair. Mine even has a basket & a seat so I can rest when I'm out shopping etc. My walker has 4 wheels I assume it's because of my balance issues.

Thanks. That is what i said about the 4 prong. I was hoping they would start out a bit less dramatic for her, but.... She is trying. Eventually I am sure we will end up with a walker or a wheelchair. I take it one day at a time. I will keep everyone in the group in my prayers.Matt
