Hi , sounds to me like Eli needs a new pair ;)

When was small, we used to wait till his toes were near to

curling over the ends and we got new pairs for him. We're lucky here

in the UK and get them " free " through the NHS. Al's feet are too wide

for the standard shoe and we end up changing them sooner than

required, so no longer toes over the edge but rather sooner than

necessary from that perspective and larger sized shoes than you would

anticipate. Still we pad them out with foam and they generally stay

in!! Tee hee no I should be more honest with myself... his feet stay

in the shoes until they are growing and they we put the foot which is

growing on time after time after time...

Hope this helps

times each day causing bad red spots on the backs of his heels. We

immediatly switched to a smaller shoe (which fixed the problem), and

we've been in that shoe ever since. My question is, is it ok that his

toes go over the edge of the shoe? He curls them, so they're always

bending over.... We take him out of them for an hour a day, and he

seems to be able to stand on them just fine, but I still wonder. We

are goign to our orth. next week for a check up, so i'll be sure to

ask, but I just wanted some parents' opinions too...

Hi

We've always used the Markells and we were told by both Dr Ponseti and the

orthotists in Iowa that could wear his shoes up until his toes were

past the edge and even curling over. Believe it or not, he's turning 3 in

just under a week and he's only ever had 2 pairs of shoes, his first ones

which lasted for over a year and his size 4.5 which he's now reached the

edge of. When his toes are past the edge we'll get a bigger pair. I like

keeping him in shoes for a long time because when we change it always takes

him a while to adjust, the old shoes are so comfy and moulded to the shape

of his feet. Just our experience, hope this helps

Hello again everyone!

Eli is now 4 1/2 months old, and has been in the red bar and Markells since

he was 9 weeks old (12 weeks so far). The first pair of shoes we had ended

up being too big, and his foot slipped out MANY times each day causing bad

red spots on the backs of his heels. We immediatly switched to a smaller

shoe (which fixed the problem), and we've been in that shoe ever since. My

question is, is it ok that his toes go over the edge of the shoe? He curls

them, so they're always bending over.... We take him out of them for an hour
