Guest guest
I have seen minor bruising from casts (and we have gone thu MANY) but never actual sores Did the doc ever talk to Dr P about best way to correct? Guest guest
Yes, the ortho talked to Dr P. prior to the first casting. They had a lengthy discussion and Dr P is kept posted on the castings/progress. Pictures of the sore were sent to Dr. P, but with the Thanksgiving holiday, I don't think he's in the office this week since I have not heard back from him. So now it's just a waiting game until Monday to see how the sore looks. > > > > Ok, here I am with more questions. Have any of your children > developed > > sores from the casts? Guest guest
Our daughter had a pretty bad sore on the top of her foot where it meets the shin, from outgrowing her cast. It healed really fast, amazingly fast. Hope his lil foot is better and try not to worry too much! Did your doctor figure out why this happened in the first place? & Grace > > > > > > Ok, here I am with more questions. Have any of your children > > developed > > > sores from the casts? Guest guest
Whew! I'm happy to hear that it healed fast. I hope my little guy's will do the same. The Dr seemed to think that maybe the cast was on too tight, or possibly the skin may have been pinched. Was your daughter's an open sore? My son's sore is not open. It's just an area of skin that has turned white and seems to be pretty deep. > > > > > > > > Ok, here I am with more questions. Have any of your children > > > developed > > > > sores from the casts? Guest guest
Wow. I just saw the pictures. That looks sooo painful. Poor little thing. It's a good thing they are so young when they go through all this and won't be able to remember it. > > > > > > > > Ok, here I am with more questions. Guest guest
Someone may have answered you already, but...my son had one on the inside of his foot, near his toe, after the second cast. The doctor did what yours did with less pressure and more padding and when it came off, it looked better. It had a new layer of skin over it , like a blister. I worried at first and then realized that when they have the tenotomy, there is an incision under the cast to heal for three weeks, and a little sore isn't as bad as that. > > Ok, here I am with more questions.
