My son has bilateral cf and I had too little fluid during my pregnancy. If it

reaches a certain level it's called Oligohydramnios. I asked my doctor if this

is what I had, but she said that you have to have a very low level, such as an

Amniotic Fluid Index of 5. I was about 9. I think my doctor said the normal

level was about 10-11 AFI. So I was only considered normal-low.

I read in the book What To Expect While You're Expecting the following: " The

majority of women diagnosed with oligohydramnios will have a completely normal

pregnancy. But, occasionally, the condition can lead to or signal potential

problems. In early pregnancy, there is the slight risk of umbilical cord

constriction or the development of a club foot in the fetus who doesn't have

enough room in the womb. "

I think it's interesting how in the previous e-mail her doctor is telling her

that club foot may cause they hydramnios whereas the oligohydramnios may cause

the club foot!

I'm glad that you guys mentioned this. I'm 24 weeks pregnant, and

my baby has been diagnosed with bilateral cf. I'm gonna make sure

to mention it to my dr at my next appointment. I'm scheduled for

another ultrasound at 28 weeks (last week of december) just to check

on the baby and see how he's doing. So I'm definately going to take

advantage and make them check on the fluid level (LOL! That sounded

like I'm checking on my car!) Wish my shocks and suspensions had a

lifetime warranty!! LOL!!
