I learned a new trick with Aetna PPO for getting the DOC band pre-appproved...

it's so good I thought I would share it! Cranial Technologies submitted the

paperwork to have our 7 mo. old's DOC Band preapproved on 6/4/09 (Thursday). I

called Aetna on 6/5/09 (Friday) to make sure they had all the paperwork for the

pre-approval process. I asked if they could do anything to speed up the

pre-approval process and they said they could put in a " request to expedite " on

my behalf. If expedited, it only takes 3-5 business days to evaluate a claim

for pre-approval. I called today 6/9/09 (Monday) and it was approved!! Aetna's

contracted rate for the DOC Band is $2200, Aetna covers 90%, so we only pay

$220. Our appointment for the 3D imaging is this Thursday, 6/11/09.

Thanks for the tip, Jocelyn! I have Aetna PPO and will be submitting our claim

in a couple of days (once i get a letter of medical necessity from our dr).

I'll make sure to call in and make a request to expedite our claim as well.
